Clicky (http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=dodFreeWeekend)! Get a free trial of DoD:Source this weekend... should be fun; I want to see what all the hype is about, not having played any of the DoD games before :)

OK, mine crashes every time I try to load it. Before even changing resolutions and flickering screens, it gets an error message :(

I'm pretty sure that the problem is mine alone, seeing as there are no threads regarding my problem on the steampowered forums.

Also, it could be the fact that I tried playing before completely downloading it  silly me.

The problem is never yours alone, it's steam!

Not missing out on much, just imagine DOD but prettier and less maps and runs worse and is laggier and has a lower average IQ playerbase and has riflegrenades and no more bayonets and hitboxes that are a bit broken. I think I covered everything.

If you want a DOD experience you go play original DOD! I mean DOD:S is pretty much DOD but broken, so yeah 'nough said.

I don't exactly want a DoD experience. I want purdy graphics and juicy ragdolls :)

Heh I found this bit from a SA article right before Valentines Day particularly funny:

"For Valve, that was a brilliant move with the free weekend of Day of Defeat Source right before Valentine's Day. You guys must really know your target audience."

I never really got into DOD or DOD:S. My brother-in-law plays it NON STOP when he visits, effectively tying up my wife's PC.

Maybe I should try it again, and actually play for more than fifteen minutes.

Psh it has plenty of vehicles!

Each team gets one unusable tank model buried in rubble per map!

You may, if you wish, take a moment aside from the intense infantry combat to admire the detailed craftsmanship of your teams buried and unusable tank…but not too long, lest you become buried yourself.
