Title: Hey it's 2006!
Post by: 2_of_8 on January 01, 2006, 01:21:08 PM
So Happy New Year's to all of you! Out with the old and in with the new. Let's hope life takes out the things that sucked and adds things that rocked (oh that was a good sentence was it not?)

A New Year's celebration needs a good quote, so here's one.

"Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right" - person

Yay!  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

I resolve to
1) Quit gaming, or limit to <2 hours a week
2) Be social, while being able to
3) Get good grades (90+)

Aye. Oh and get a girlfriend. Working on that this second.

YOu want to go from playing competitive NS while everyone else quit to quitting gaming? Good luck, sir.

Resolutions may seem good for some people, but I think they're dumb. If you resolve to do something, you might as well do it any other time of the year.

I have. I started my resolution about a month ago, and have been mostly successful.
(the one regarding gaming)

Getting a social life is not ridiculous.

im a hardcore gamer and have a great social life, with people that dont even play games. in fact... hate video games with a passion. you dont have to quit gaming, you just need to know whens a good time for each, aka during the day = GAME TIME night = OUT  ^_^

Well, I can see some logic in your quitting, 2_8; everyone I know in college tells me that if you have a habit of gaming a lot before the first year, it'll only get worse. I'm kind of afraid.

Just like decreasing the amount of loan I'd have to take out for university, as well as getting in a better one. All ridiculous.

Man, whatever friends you have in college straight up lied to you.  If the dorm internet connection doesn't suck enough for you there's always a million new people around you who you can meet.  Gaming takes a backseat by default.

I guess those things started applying to me a bit early; my connection started to suck at home (pinging above 200 for rougly half the US servers, including my favs), and I've met millions of new people. So that's how gaming already took a back seat.

Then no worries - things like this tend to work themselves out :)

Yeah, I forgot to mention that my friend who told me this also got an Xbox his first year at college, where there's always someone on the network in his hall. You're definitely right about meeting lots of people, anyway.

Yay, it's 2006. This number doesn't sound that cool. Anyway, I decided to try harder in college. That is my only resolution. And when I am not doing that, I agree with Foolio -- more drinking.
