Title: So What's up with everyone
Post by: rad4Christ on June 16, 2005, 04:44:48 PM
Recently, I've taken a second job that blocks IRC, so I can't chat during the day, and my evenings are swamped, but I've noticed when I am on the IRC channel, forum, and server aren't nearly as populated as before. Taking Gamesurge's ability to screw up 5 times a minute (the Chris Farley of the internet), and other summer duties, where is everyone? Has NS died and LM is following suit? What's going on with everyone.

Ive been busy with random stuff, such as exams and things.... I don't know if my summer will be any more, or less hectic... as I plan on breaking many laws, and that means time away from the pc :-D So Ill be around whenever I can be.

Just got my second job, but I'm still around.  I play a bit, as well.  You just have to know WHEN to play.

I usually play at least once a day, i might be getting a second job again so i can actually buy stuff instead of just paying bills... nah what fun is that?

I might play more again now that exams are over... but personally, I find a bit less life here than before. Less teamwork, less voicecomm, less dedicated players (leaving mid-game, etc [I'm sorry]), less epic games. I can't explain it though; not very well anyway.

If things aren't in an upward trend, then they are in a downward spiral. This seems to be the way things go with ns communities in general.

I think it would help if there were some way to change to combat when the server has very few people. Personally, I tend to leave out of boredom when it's 4 on 4 or so.

I just quit one of my two jobs on Wednesday. But this week I am packing up all my stuff and next week I am moving into a new place with a friend of mine. I just finished exams a couple weeks ago. I've also been busy planning local lan parties, they are a blast but can soak up so much time.  :D

I think most of the old regs have either moved on, are addicted to WoW or some other MMO, or have time consuming summer jobs that don't let us play the hours we would like too.  Based on the LMO we still have alot of dudes around, just not too many of them have the time to play LM much any more.  Maby now that the cal season is generally over some of our compeditive regs will be more active...

We don't have the average of coming up regs like we used too... Our slotters are getting slotted faster then before because there just isn't as many new canditates around to compete with.

Found another reason for my absence... whenever I try to load Steam, it says:

"Error: Unable to open steam.dll for writing (errno13)"

This is after it "updates steam platform"

Maybe a reboot will fix that... but I'm just sitting here digging for excuses.  :)

I think that a lot of the better players and better team players are tired of some of the h8 that goes on.  Also, when you don't take care of those players and cater to them as they are what makes a good server, while catering to a different audience via RS and admin, they leave so you get the type of player the RS and admins are.  Also, the hostility toward clanners and the like is annoying.  If you want a server full of people without fire and zeal, and you keep making those that have it unwelcome (or people who are just better than you, ie. Solid Snake), then you will have a server of weak livered, worthless gaming.  Or just an empty one, like what is happening now.

I'm done with my exams, so I guess I'll be playing more. Unfortunately, the server is empty a lot.

Going to be looking for work. Recently got into Splinter Cell: CT with my friends.

Been busy playing tour guide.  Haven't played  much since the 14th and I won't be able to play anything till the 25th.  OMG I am suffering serious withdrawals!  I'll be back soon.

BTW Bryan, spell checkers are overrated, especially in your case.  :p

yeah. i'm opening a restaraunt taht usually has a45 person staff and right now employes 25 people. today is my 10th straight day at work. im gonna be near a hundred hours this week.

It looks like next week is more of the same.

With the death of LMO, i haven't had the fortitude to get out fo a 15 hour shift and get on the server. Particularly, becasue none of the 3 games i have played this week have been fun.  right now BF@ sp is more fun.:(

I think its just a reflection of the game as a whole.

The updates to the game are less frequent and smaller.  Less change = game becomes stale = interest level decreases. Games tend to play out quite predictably as people have settled into mc/dc/sc. Therea big rift between the experienced and inexperienced as the casual skilled players drop off leaving only newbies and diehards remaining.

Also tking the hive to use the mc ability is an issue. It skews the win/loss ratio even futher towards the Aliens. They dont need to fight very hard for map control anymore.

I find myself quitting out of extreme flustration more frequently than i used to, on all servers.

I work full time, all the time, and am almost always on call. So I don't have as much time as I used to. Once I settle into my new scheduel, I should be around more. :)

Okay, okay, I admit it.  I got a GF, and since then my time online has been SERIOUSLY decreasing.  Despite my best efforts (read: halfhearted) I simply can't manage to motivate myself to tell her I don't want to hang out with her so that I can play a game.

So you all get second class treatment until further notice.

Well, i've been around quite a bit actually. Been playing a lot on fr31ns and lm (usually nighttime eastern), but other than that, i'm teaching summer school classes to retards who managed to somehow fail their freshman american government class. honestly, the teacher for that class during the regular school year plows through half a fifth of jack daniels before class starts at 7:20 am and has the rest finished by lunch time...shes been doing it since i had her for a teacher almost 10 years ago, it takes exactly 6 brain cells to pass her course. its boring and the kids have the collective IQ of an eggplant, but it puts me up for a raise come august...to a whopping $32.5k a year.

on a side note, i wish someone could explain to me why my brother, who is a high school dropout, makes $37k a year being a digital communications dispatcher for the county and only works 20-25 hours a week (full benefits too) and im only making $30k a year working 50+ hours a week, taking work home and having a college degree. what the hell is wrong with our country?

that said i am on a working bender (12th day in a row, 49.27 hours overtime in the last week.)

back on topic with you!

Create a new thread if you want to debate the life of our future's educators.  Anymore of it here and I'm deleting all the off-topicness in this thread  >:D

I've been 'busy' and thus haven't played NS in awhile.  I think some (most?) of you know I'm pregnant.  Due in December :)  and besides that there's just a ton of 'personal' stuff going on in my life right now and it just doesn't allow for too much computer time after work.  I'm still around... just not as much.

DHP: Thread cleaned, keep it on topic, or i'll bloody get you in your sleep with a large piece of pastry that i'm going to ram so hard up y....

I go out of town for two weeks and LM implodes? Or at least it has appeared to. Well Im back now so in theory all will be well.

Of course I turn 21 on tuesday so I may be absent again purely because ill be too drunk/hung over.

We can blame full-time work and WoW on my end.  I still try to play NS once or twice a week, but I guess with the rest of us busy/whatever, I run into empty servers more often, so I end up playing even less.  Too bad really.  But I still love you guys.

Homework and RL in general have been taking over... moved last weekend, gf's moving in next week as well, so that should cut down on some gaming time.  Mostly the only game I play nowadays is NS, and that's on LM

So yeah, those are my excuses  :p

meh, I don't have steady computer access unless I'm at my local library

<3 raddeh

so has TLM been empty as of late or what?

[edit]
rad, how does the second job block IRC? Moreover, are you morally and ethically down to get past this blocking?

Now that I'm about to get into doing my job, i won't have time to have IRC up. But the second job is murder. Well, that and waiting for this child to be born...

And the fact that BF2 lags to heck and is unplayable half my day on ranked servers...

I agree with Ziggy.  I leave for two weeks and then all my friends leave?  I can tell who's not wanted.... *tear*

Ai well, I have an idea to fix this.  Maybe, if you spent the time browsing the forums playing the game, and only looked at the forums just before you go to sleep, like me, you may have a teeny bit more time.  That, or setting aside a certain night for gaming, and trying it taht way.  (that's what I used to have to do, as my parents were being all afraid of compy addiction. . .not that it helped)

Following with the same trend as everybody else in the thread, I've had plenty of work to do and coupled with the fact I haven't had a decent working computer in 3 months now does not add up to a lot of playing time in NS. Plus, I probably forgot how to shoot...not that I did too much of that in the first place anyway.
