I've had this an hour after they came out, been using them ever since. They're great. Very useful, since they list every single location on the map - many of which I'm likely not to know.

They should be standard by now, it just makes coordination so much easier if you all know where is where.

Agreed. There is absolutely no reason for them not to be in.

I thougth they were going to add whatever alien structure is under attack on the mini-map in NS 3.0 Final. But they didn't, It would really be nice cause sometimes all I hear is structure under attack and I can't find the little bubble thing.

the reason is commander+waypoints.

That's not a reason at all. Aliens have neither commander nor waypoints.

no, but hey have labels when they look at something in that area, be it the RT they want to save, or the teammate.

Since NS relies on teamplay and coordination, I would imagine the map is designed to facilitate this.

Hence no reason why there shouldn't be names on the map. Little blips and names are all very well, but you don't know how far to travel or if there's alternate roads in. With labelled minimaps, I can check for vents, coordinate efforts with other players, etc.

i downloaded em and love em, couldnt play without em. but....for some reason the minimap for altair has a huge red square behind it that makes me unable to see if i have the minimap up. kinda sucks.

the reason for the named minimaps not being official is that they only come in one language...

but the minimaps themselves don't come in all the languages that NS comes in, and if they did it would be a pain [according to zunni] to code it in to change with the overall language that the client is set to

The locations on your _HUD_ are the same_for_all_languages.

No where in NS are the location names difference for different language settings.
