Wall Strafing = strafing against the wall you're next to while moving forward
what does this accomplish? do you move faster or something?

yea, you move a bit faster. you can use this speed to bhop off of if you do it right, as well. helps moving in vents
Note: you can also wallstrafe while climbing ladders, you just have to look in a 45degree angle or so away, then pushing both forward and strafing, perhaps you have to look up too, can't remember specifically, i more or less just do it :p.

Now that I think about it, I always do it! Just didn't notice, it's instinctive now.
Oh and one more helpful tip, try jumping in vents. Helps you move faster, most of the time, especially on vents sloped up (i.e. origin, ventilation -> ore extraction)

you can climb down a ladder superfast if you simply look perpendicular to the ladder and hold the strafe key which is in the opposite direction of the ladder while looking at a very slight downward angle...
in other words, face so that youre on the ladder and its on your right, strafe left while looking down towards the floor, and pressing down.
its often been rumored that this is perceptual, but i have proven it myself that if you look at the floor at about a 45 degree angle while you walk forward normally there is a slight speed increase, enough so that you would be uncloaked in B5.
I'm pro at wiggle walking, I used to do it in the specialists role-playing. I would always out run the guy and he would claim me of hacking.

i never used to run in RP... i'd turn around and cuff them... then beat them a bit, then release
I can't even see why anyone would go through the trouble of trying to master these techniques, altering their field of vision (which adversly affects your aim) in the process. The only situation in which I can see this being useful is for running back to a squad of marines for backup and/or trying to save yourself from getting another death on the scoreboard, and by the sounds of it, you wouldn't be able to go fast enough to avoid that under most circumstances. I just walk around normally, alone or with other marines, hunting skulks or whatever, or I just sit back at base in case a skulk or two decide to rush (they usually do). I get killed a lot, but that's mostly because I'm very new to the game. I dunno, I just don't see how slightly increased running would benefit you all that much. Just run around and shoot. :p

Certain maneuvers for marines will give them an extra second to kill a skulk. That makes a huge difference. And then bhopping for skulks greatly reduces the time to get to a target.
Yeah, definitely very beneficial with the skulks. I don't see how it is so much when it comes to marines.

It isn't. An EXTREAMLY proficiant wiggle walker/wallstrafer/glidejumper will only achive a maximum of about 130% the normal speed. Nearly any half decent Bhop skulk can do that easily.
