So after sorting all 9 of the pallets of computers that came in, now it comes time to build the CCE [special version of XP]

and these are the specs for the computers that are used for e-mail, internet, a couple proprietary programs, nothing intensive [hardcore gaming, compiling, editing etc]

this is the high end "hp dc7100"

convertable minitower chassis 3.4GHz/800 w/HT; 1gb DDR synch DRAM pc3200 400MHz (2x512MB) 160gb 72000 RPM serial ATA disk drive; no floppy and a 48x/32x/16xdvd/cdrw combo drive

this is the mid range "hp dc5000"

small form factor chassis; 2.8GHz/800 w/HT; 512mb pc2700 DDR333 DIMM, 80gb ATA/100 7200 rpm HDD, no floppy, 48x CDRW drive

the funny part about the HDD is that everyone has there own network HDD and your not supposed to save *anything* on your local HDD

except they do use a couple big programs [1gb+] like autocad, you could still have 20 gb hdd and never worry about running out of space.

GG gov?

Where are you working/whatever that you're dealing with this stuff?

And of course you know that games will be installed on those computers, regardless of what they're actually for :p

Not if they have a software such as AuditWizard (http://www.auditwizard.com/). Then everything installed is monitored...

I work at citigroup, we just got a whole shipment (a thousand or so) of dc7100s.

They're nice. I took one for my desk.  :D

edit: what TAK didn't mention is that the dc7100 is a PCI Express machine. You could plug an x850 into one of these babies.

Then there's deepfreeze, which'll just wipe any changes made to the machine since bootup at shutdown.
