well since i never made a hello thread i will say hello now.

Hello. I found the server by throwing chicken bones into a pot of boiling blood, and when they floated up to the surface, the bones spelled out the connect address. Then I connected and became a regular there, And that's when the horror began.  ^^

Now the reason i got here is pretty strange, i was talking to lolfighter (never with a capital L! NEVER!) about him being corrupt, i tried want to bribe him for a slot...then LB comes around, and tells me to register and he'll get it all fixed o_O......so here i am, making this post...and dealing out a few free posts to all of ye.

hey everyone! don't know if you remember me (LB better) but i used to play on lunix quite a bit and since it went steam, and since i was boycotting steam, i gave up playin it.

however, not too long ago, i tried installing steam, and it didn't go well for me. so i gave up. however, i'm tryin again right now, and i have a good feeling this time!

so this is my official hello and i'm (probably) coming back to play some NS on my favorite server! hope you guys didn't get too good while i was away. if i ever get on say hey (unless of course, i'm on the opposite team, which then of course you should wait until we're done fighing and you're dead  :p ).

i pray this works and i will see you guys soon... uh.... hopefully.... !!!  :D

Hello
I am a 13 year old person who found out about NS.  After NS being totally broken for a week after I got it, I got it to work.  I found the LM NS server, and I liked the server, so I added it to my favorites.  It's preaty much the only server I play on, unless its full.  Then I normally play on the Freaks Unleashed server.

My favorite foods are donuts(Cinnamon rolls and things mostly, but I like chocolate covered cream filled from Crispy Cream), pizza(Papa Johns thin crust most often) and this thing called tortalini(sp) alferdo(sp).  I like cherry coke, and I eat the ice cubes I put it the cups.  My favorite cup is a large somewhat cone shaped green transparent soda cup, and I fill it all the way to the top with ice cubes.

Some computer information.  I do not use Linux(One reason would be I play this game thats in VB).  I use Windows ME, the worst operating system ever created.  I have an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 non-ultra, which sucks.  I am planning on getting a Radeon 9600XT or a Radeon 9800 Pro for christmas.

Hrmmm I dont think I never said hello myself :D, I R FEWPID, I WANT YOOR PAI! ollolololloololl. Ok now on to how I came about to be here: I started my ns career by joining a clan called IFB, which later merged with the server we always stacked "Now We Donce" which was run by Blahman, then donce kind of died..... then IFB was dying so we reformed into ECN, localhost, an ex-doncer and ECN-member attempted to make a NEW donce which had many a problems, so I spent a lot of my time on the server Nano-Gridlock which was previously run by LB, and my clan got some admin rights to it o/. So I got to know LB and when nano-g switched to ReadyRoom I stayed as an admin with it and supported LB, and now it is Lunixmonster and I'm still here supporting the cause o/.

Of course. The changes in 3.0 will definitely be fresh enough to renew the experience, especially with a new Kharaa upgrade and a new TSA weapon. And NS:Combat should provide a nice change of pace game-wise, allowing me to get into some fast action.

I haven't heard about Sven Co-Op until Vinnie told me about it but I've seen some NS, and it looks pretty fun. I haven't had much time to setup Half-Life lately, but hopefully I'll get everything installed and be able to play with you guys sometime.

I've been busy with configuring the new server that LB is hosting. Much thanks to him for helping out! I hope he's having fun playing with us.

Yep :D  I play all three mods that LM runs (2 now :( ) Sven Co-Op., NS, and S&I.  Although I don't play many games other than Half-Life (+mods).  Umm... I play a little SoulCalibur on the Sega Dreamcast... thats about it...

Abnormally high processor usage (100%?) is currently keeping the SC servers down. I expect they'll be down once that problem gets fixed.

Howdy.  I'm new to the forum, and to the site, but I always play in the Lunixmonster server for NS.  I absolutely love the server.  The admins are pretty darn good and nice and fair.  Anyway, I wanted to let you guys know that I'm here.  I started playing in the server around December of 2003.  Since then, it has really been the only server that I play NS in.  I will be checking the forums pretty much daily, just to see what's happening.  Lemme know if you guys want to know anything about me.  Just post a reply, and I can answer.  Btw, I know Satiagraha pretty well, and he is the one that got me into NS.  Heh, I work at Circuitcity in the car audio dept, so if you have any Q's relating to that, I can help heh.  Just trying to be helpful.  Thanks guys, see ya later!

You can buy my GF4 with the broken fan. It works just not on things that actualy take graphical processing power :p

EDIT: Humph I'm doing surgery on it right now, the fan itself (the plastic bladed part) looks like melted... the center where the pin holds it in place over the magnets is horribly contorted out of shape and... brown. The case itself has cracked. Crap.

Greetings everyone, thought I'd drop by and say hello.  For the longest time I refused to play Steam NS and only joined WON games.  I had the belief that there were no good Steam servers out there with a community of regulars that used teamwork mixed with good sportsmanship, I was wrong.

Sancho introduced me to this server a few weeks ago and I've been hooked ever since.  I've played NS since its release and absolutely love skulking, maybe its all that barking who knows.  The only other mod I play regularly would be Action Half-Life for its sexy throwing knives  <3

Hello everyone. I felt like it was time to join the forums. LM is my favorite server. I try to get on whenever I can, but more often than not it's full, with no reserve slot for me :p.

I'm one of the "Newcomers" to NCR. I used to post in the NS forums, but never had the patience to go through all those posts, and the GorgeRush forums aren't enough to keep me entertained, so this seemed to be the best place to go. Filled with people I play with all the time (even if they don't know me yet)  :ph34r:

I was thinking about chattin with you all on IRC too, but i'm a chicken.

The reason i began to play on LM:s NS-server is this:

Played CS few years..got bored..played TFC..got bored..played DOD..hmm, nice..heard from friend bout this NS thing..just tried your server.."fell in love"..yack..not literally

But this is the story in short version. :) I really enjoy playing on your server!

I'm from Finland and 25 years old. I work in Finnish Air-Force as an ICT-designer. I live with my girlfriend and my pet iguana in a small rent apartment in Jyvaskyla.

Registered to Steam about week ago and i allways play with the same name. Lots of probs with my ISP...my 512/512 ADSL-sucks so my link isn't very stable..

I'm a newbie...so patience..learning all the time.

And BTW! It was great of you guys to help me to play the game few days ago! Thanks!

And Mouse...sorry I pissed you off yesterday...I really didn't know how to get to the right place on the map..

And that is why I absolutely love the sig limits in NS and Lunix. There are a lot of forums out there where nearly everybody has a sig that's larger than any post they've ever made.

Of course, that's true even with our limits for a handful of NS spammers, but I won't name names.  ;)

bah? Maybe coming in and asking for a reserve slot, then learning that you need to conform to forum rules and change your sig, and then NOT conforming, but stating your disagreement to the rules, is not a good show of character for said reserve slot.  :huh:

That said, reserve slots are given to people who are good teamplayers, respect the rules, and are fun to play with. Just hang around the server, IRC, and forums, and you might gain some points.

Those are the forum rules, not the signature guidelines, which can be found here in the official image testing and guidelines thread (http://www.lunixmonster.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4). It shouldn't be so hard to comprehend that maybe the images are in the art section, but just in case, we have a nifty little search feature that I would advise you to use in the future.

hello forumites, my name is scott macpherson from ontario canada. because of steam and my firewall, lunixmonster is one of about 10 server that could turn up when i updated my server list. its just as well because i think its great with the number of team players on it, the pings and the FF so i spend most of my NS time on there

with all the time i spend on yur server i thought i would visit the forums and ask a few questions that are on my mind

what % of damage is friendly fire?

how is kicking for slot reservations done?

lolfighter elaborates: If the server is at capacity (16 players, the 17th slot is only there to allow resslotters to get in when the server's full without having to do it through the console), the highest-pinging non-resslotter is kicked to make room.

If you ever saw a Tanathos while playing NS, it probably was me (emphasis on the purposely misplaced "h"). I've been playing since 1.0 on notable servers like RedPhive (it wasn't called that at first), C0FR, Voogru. Having found that LM is a server comparable to those one, well I added it to my favorite list.

The reason I'm posting this :

Simply so when you people see "Tanathos", you'll know it's me. I'm not particularly active in off-games activities (IE : I don't even have mIRC on my computer).

Be seeing you ingame!

Yup, 'kawaii' can mean cute, though it can also mean 'pretty' depending on context, or just 'lovable'.

A friend of mine once was trying to type 'hello' but her right hand shifted one key to the left, ending up with gekki. For a long time after that, we greeted each other with 'gekki!'

Thanx, I made it yesterday after [WHO]Them gave me some of his pwnage webspace, cause he is awesome!  Check out my link, I got a few comixs involving that character, which I call white marine cause I blatently ripped off the style off white ninja.  Basicly I just used the same joke twice, but thier kinda funny anyways.

I’m new here – just recently got involved in the other NS forums and have decided to branch out.  The more bored I get at work the more you will see me post!  

I’ve played at the lunixmonster for awhile now – as regularly as I can as it is always full!  It is full for a good reason – I deem it the best NS server out there!  <3  

In response to the initial questions…. What is my favorite food?  I must say that I am a fillet mignon gal – all bloodied up right next to a baked potato!  I don’t know Niteowl so ummm – he should play more so I can meet him and he should play less so there is room for me on the server?!

Hello all the Lunixmonsterians here.  This server got me back into NS, after i'd dabbled with it in the 1.x days.  F33L T3H LURV3!

btw, i'm apologize if i'm reallllllly quiet ingame and don't respond to anything you say.  It's nothing personal (for most...) but my piddly little 26.4k simply can't handle the extra data...  So i people who talk much on voicechat. (read:  talk at all...)  Oh well.

Use dark chocolate.

Get 3 mars bars, 3 cups of rice krispies, 3 oz butter. Cut mars bars up, melt them with the butter. When its all melted, bung in the rice krispies. Mix it wellllllll.

Dump the whole lot onto a baking tray, flatten it out so its even. Melt some dark chocolate (you'll need a few big bars of the really nice bitter stuff) and pour that all over.

Leave to cool for a few hours. Cut into squares and use to taunt family with.

Thats a treat thats not too sweet and also not too messy. Take you about 30 minutes if you have everything to hand and you're in a hurry.

Hi

I'm sure some of you know me from the server...  usually on the ground dead, but anyways, among all the messages on the server, one was regarding a reserved spot...  I know I play there pretty much exclusivly becuase of my 25 ping and the fact its a "pure" server, so to speak, as it doesn't have lame mod's added on.

Anyways, just trying to participate... You won't see me on IRC as I really can't stand it anymore, but I'll try to drop by here when i'm not biting your faces.

Whoa, I've been so focused on the NS forums that I never even ventured into the Off Topic section.  Figured there was way too much to catch up on.  But I suppose I should say hello.

I've been playing on LM exclusively for maybe 4 or 5 months now.  As you've no doubt been told many times, the quality of play there is the best I've run across.  It's no shame being killed over and over again by you guys.  I even get my own licks in every now and then...

Playing a little less, what with school and all, but I still try to make a showing on the forums, and I even decided to give IRC a try, not my usual thing.

Nice to see you round these parts. Though I have to warn you of something, we do certain things.. certain ways.
For example, there is a time and a place for everything, such as this post.
The place for this post would be here (http://www.lunixmonster.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=210) and obviously the time would be before you decided to make it a complete topic of its own.. Luckily we tend not to hold this kind of thing against new people since its more or less a common mistake. Of course it is always nice if you don't make the mistake at all, one of the moderators will quickly merge this thread with that one.
The next thing is the rules. Be sure to follow the rules of the server on the server. They can be found in your console right after connection. They are important. You won't last long here if you can't more or less follow those rules.
Same with the Forums. The forum rules are right up at the top, it is suggested you try to abide by them as best as possible

Agreed, please don't bold everything. If you need a reason, picture the following scenario: You bold everything. This makes your post stand out from those of others. Others feel that THEIR posts do not get due attention, and bold theirs too. Soon everyone bolds their posts. Nothing has really changed, except that we can no longer bold individual words because all words are bolded. Essentially, the board has lost a feature.
Take it even further: In their Quest For Attention™, people start using italics, colours, underlining and huge letters to gain attention. Soon, the boards are a jumbled mish-mash of colours and shapes, and people either flee or suffer epileptic seizures.

In short: Default font and style for most of your post, please. :)

Hello everyone :)
I think I first heard of this server on the NS forums, it was like a reputable server and good players went there when they wanted a break from normal pub servers :D
Anyways, I only came to the server about a week ago, after yet another reincarnation of NS in me. I am loving it here, people are really nice and the level of teamwork is astounding.

Anyways, great community, I'll be here to stay. Anytime I play NS, this is the only server I play on.

Well, I've been playing on LM on and off under different accounts for jeez, as long as I can remember playing NS. LM has always been that server on the Favorites list that I always jump on. You know, one of those "Aww, it's full/I got kicked? Now I guess I have to go listen to the pubbers yell at eachother and get lost on ns_mineshaft" kind of things.

I said to myself, "Self," I said, "Why did you never, ever signed up on the forums?" "Well" I responded, "I really don't know." I figure I owe it to the forum whore in me to say hello!

What else? I'm 20 years old, recently moved to Santa Cruz CA. I love me some NS... seriously looove me some NS. I had to uninstall it so I could get work done, and more than a few times! But I always come back to my golden baby. Damn, that game is GOOD. So addicting! So satisfying! No computer game as of yet has been able to compare.

This computer here isn't mine. It's my roomies and long time friend's. And my god can it savage Halflife. I've been playing NS for years on a 16 meg onboard video card. Feel my pain! Now I can actually SEE, I can actually AIM... I don't know how I lived without (or rather, I know how I died without)!

I'm also a board game freak on the side. I saw a Settlers topic down a bit, and so I know at least someone can sympathize. War of the Ring, Puerto Rico, Game of Thrones, and most recently Twilight Imperium 3rd Ed. (with a few choice houserulings). Yes, I'm a bit of a FFG whore, but my next aquisition is shaping up to be Power Grid, which I've heard good things about. A little beer & pretzel Zombies!!! action too!

I'm getting a job on a commercial salmon boat, but till then I have way too much free time. I'm a regular internet addict, so I'm sure I'll be seeing you all around for the forseeable future!

I've played NS as Scuzball and for the last three or four months, Hesitation. I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with this one, though. Sometimes I just play on my friend's accounts because I'm at their house, but that's negligable.

I mostley play on LM, Dihydromonoxide, and a few OldF servers. Um, I hate mod's. I hate combat, and especially lvl 10+ combat. And I don't have much fun on custom maps, especially those damn seige maps.

Hey All,

Thought I'd stop by and introduce myself. I've been playing a Lunixmonster for a while now and I guess it's time start visiting the forums.

Welcome ......you seem to live thru things that others would die instantly.. one i saw,there was a lerk and a gorge. You start shooting the lerk, he runs, then you start pistoling gorge, lerk comes back and you finish off what rounds you had in your lmg in the lerk, he runs again. Then you rush gorge with knife killing him and managed to knife the lerk  twice as he flew right in your face. lerk had one more knife in him and you would of killed him too.. btw the 2 affore-mentioned aliens were regulars on the server and had a positive score that game. Keep up the good work. I'm glad to see you on my team when i comm :D

Some of you might remember me, some of you may not.  (I'm looking at you Lightning Blue.) I'm an old veteran of NS from way back in 1.0, was there for LB's original clan and server (The Brotherhood IIRC) and was a beta tester for NS during the 2.0's.  I'm back from a long absence and am playing NS once again!  My new handle is Ephraim, but on the NS servers I go by "Ephraim // Sirus" just so people (might) recognize me.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to playing again with my friends of old !  See ya online.

Seems like this thread has kinda died, but guess I'll introdue myself anyways.

I'm Desmond (game name SlickDizzy), and I'm a high school student as of the moment. My hobbies outside of video games are cars, electronic music, and art.

As for why I joined, the Free SunnyD SourceForts server is the only one I ever play on. I was part of MrBill's maptest earlier today, had some fun there. I also never even knew you guys had a NS server, I'll probably start whoring that up too.

You guys run a great server, I'm hoping the forums are just as good :D

Yeah not many new people have joined the forums other than "omg unban pls" lately so no need for hellos! So hello slickdizzy, I will always think of you as a mix of two other members: slickwill and condizzle.

We're on a bit of a dry spell right now, so the forums only get a little activity. If you want to find a little more activity you check out the IRC chatroom, which you can connect through the java client listed as one of the forums or through your own IRC client. Details are on the main page, or somewhere, ask if you can't find them.

I have to apologize in advance if I can be a bit cruel or mean on the SF server, I get tired of restarting the server when it crashes. Just letting you know incase I happen to play more often and you're around lolol.
