Title: Wow Stress Test

I plan on playing the short WoW Stress test. If any other LMers want to get together and party leave a shout in this thread.

I'm very much considering getting a Fileplanet subscription to guarantee a spot in; I'm somewhat doubtful because the stress test only lasts for 7 days, but then again that is better than nothing.

You don't need a subscription, only an account.  I already got my CD key, and I'm downloading the setup files over my dorm's DC++ network.

Hotmail put my "CD key is ready reminder" in my Junk Mail folder.
Something deserves to DIE for that.
It also filed an email from my  <3  in there..
Yeah. It hates me.

I assume it's for World of  Warcraft. But that's just me. If that's not it, I'm clueless...

The subscribers are guaranteed a spot in the test (on a first-come first serve basis) while the non-subscribers have the leftovers (also on a first-come first-serve basis).

I almost would subscribe to Fileplanet for this and the Tribes: Vengeance beta, but I won't (although that 15 odd dollar subscription is mighty tempting).

There seems to be some minor Fileplanet subscription for around five bucks, although I'm not exactly sure if that kind of subscription would get someone into the stress test.

For I think $5.90 a month (I don't remember how much it is, It automagically deducts from my bank account, but it's around 6 or 7 bux), you can get the base account.  You get access to their private download servers, and all of their beta/subscription only stuff (but not founder's club or whatever, where you get the free full games).  I've had it for two months and so far I've used it to get Dawn of War, Red Orchestra 3 a day early, A Tale in the Desert 2 (for what that was worth), Tribes:Vengeance, and now World of Warcraft test thingy.

Ah spiffy. Well, either way, I got into the stress test without having to pay by being picked from those of us who took our chances and signed up for the test without the guarantee. Let me know what server(s) everyone's playing on, I'd like to get a taste of partying before the 7 days are up.

Damn, I heard about this far too late.  There goes my chance of playing this game (there's no way I'm doing Pay-To-Play when it comes out)

I got on the same server as Vinnie; I've got Slate the level 10 (at the moment) Troll Shaman. My entire account name is Necravolvr, of course, although I doubt I'll be playing too many different characters.

After playing in the stress test for a couple of days, and just about getting my character to level 13, I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying the game. Jumping into combat is easy enough, and the combat itself is quite entertaining. There are many quests that are right for your character at the time of the quest, and taking more quests leads your farther away from the starting camp. The trade skills available to everyone (In my case, Skinning and Leatherwork) really add an amount of customisability for your character and make you think differently about certain parts of the game. The talent system isn't in place for every class, so I don't know how that has turned out so far, but overall I am very much liking World of Warcraft.

Didn't stop other people like YellowJelloFellow from playing.  You just didn't have the zeal to obtain a slot.  Lazy :p

Hmm, from Grimm's review I would almost consider paying a monthly fee for this.  Any second opinions?
