OK I've tried this sprite out, and I can report success. It's not that this will incredibly increase your skill or somesuch weird thing. It's simply that the normal shotgun xhair does not show where your bullets are going. I can report about 75 % less 'spark bug' with this sprite. Where I'm aiming? That's where the bullets are going! It's craziness, man. Just craziness.

I just use the ones in this secondpic, they clear up the mess on your screen and make it easier to aim http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/in...showtopic=72439 (http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=72439)

i dunno, that sounds like blatant hacking to me. crosshairs that show where you are firing!??! !WTH IS THAT?!?!

might was well legalize aimbots that inject steriods into your eyeballs while taking a tire iron to your opponents sternum and then takes a time machine that travels back in well, lets face it, time, to take out your opponents parents and grandparents, or at least the ones that give them good aiming skills and that makes them miss all the time and say OMGWTFBBQHAX and die over and over again and then you laugh, but you have to take the timemachine back and laugh at them over the mic in present time and then you go and beat up all their clan mates with some sort of massive mech machine that exploderates like Tetsuo from Akira.

yeah.. THAT much cheating. :o

Long, long ago, after looking at the skulk's snout and noticing how its rather pointed, and not flat like the view from inside shows, and then after playing with one of the Aliens model packs for a while, using the much less wide mouth parts, I thought "Hey, why isn't the skulk teeth model pointed like it's snout is supposed to be? And hey, its easier to kill people now because I subconsciously force myself to bring the model area, which is also the same specific area as where the bite hits, directly onto my target. This could be good for people!".

I posted said idea in the NS forums a short while after that long, long ago, but the idea was shot down because of that little subconscious model pointing thing, people griped that it gives people who use it an "unfair advantage" and similar overly-used gripes.

Using their same logic, this crosshair should not be allowed because it shows people where to aim specifically, and would give the user an "unfair advantage".

Grimm does have a point there. But I hear that the shotgun was grossly underpowered and needed a severe boost anyway.

@ Nite: GOOOOOOOOOLD!

@ Grimm: You mean just putting the center two teeth over the marine before you chomp? I thought everyone sort of tried to do that anyway. Maybe not, I'll pay attention to my biteys next time I play and see if anything's different.

@ lf: Teehee. Yeah, the shotgun is overpowered as you've pointed out with much cunning wit and sarcasm. Previously people thought that it was a random spread, as that's what the wall decals show, and that that was balancing it. Meanwhile all the veteran upper tier clanner folks were probably subconsciously aiming it at exactly the right spot anyway, as they're just weird like that, and they always seem to get straight shots with everything. Now that this sprite is in the wild, maybe it will force the devs to realize that a 10 res weapon that's available from game start maybe SHOULDN'T be overpowered like it is. Maybe they'll finally think of changing it. One can only hope...

Edit: Have I mentioned how much I love XP-Cagey yet today? Check it out, yo: http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/in...0&#entry1099358 (http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=72475&st=0&#entry1099358)

I'm personally inclined to agree that this isn't a cheat--especially if the file isn't being tracked for consistency on the server; it does, however, provide an advantage to the people who have the modified the file. The default crosshair ought to be as accurate as any custom artwork, however, so this is something that must be fixed.
