Title: Sound Problem
Post by: Golgothaa on June 02, 2004, 07:24:13 AM
I believe this only started when i installed sven co-op to steam/half life. If people dont know what it is, its a add in basically for co-op play for normal half life, along with new aliens, new marines, and smarter ai, making me and my 2 brothers going through single player, dieing, OVER AND OVER. 1 marine if his gun is reved up, will kill u in the amount of time u jump, im not kidding, i was shooting at one over a wlal thing, and decided to jump to get better hit and repeat to kill him. *jumps* *gets blasted like a rat getting killed by a rocket launcher*. anyways, all the sounds in NS, maybe half life, need to check, though i know Blue shift was allright (finally played it, and beat it yesterday, damn it was fun). but that was a seperate install since i had a cd. The Problem i have though is all NS sounds are fuzzy. The starting *pings* at the game start, hmm, trying to describe, sound like..... fuzzy dings lol. Its really freaking bugged me, cause the sounds becomes unbearable really fast (sounds like an LMG has like snot in it almost). lol

Check for updates to your sound driver, make sure half life isn't somehow set to use eax if your card doesn't support it. I'm guessing it sounds fine in every other game. (By other game I mean something that ISN'T a half life mod... I know it's crazy, but they do make those) If you're getting problems all over, might be time for a new sound card...

Do you have an nForce2 onboard sound?  It seems to be the cause of all NS sound problems...
