I've very much enjoyed the many Tenchi Muyo series (Of the three that I know of). I very much like that there were three separate story lines in the same universe with pretty much the same characters while still retaining a certain consistency. There's a load of funny episodes along with the action-oriented ones, all revolving around their individual stories.

This new series seems to be a perversion of what I thought Tenchi would most often be. The art style and story setup seems to be akin to many anime series that have been created for the soul purpose of capitalizing on the anime 'trend', and it disappoints me. And especially the constant emphasis on the femmes in skimpy outfits all over the place. There were a few instances that hinted at focusing attention on the femme's bodies in the other number of series, but to have what seems to be most of the characters constantly wearing very little when it comes to their normal wardrobe is just wrong. All in all, I doubt I'll bother checking this series out more than maybe an episode to see what it's all about.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Guy finds two girl, build relationship.

Go through a couple episodes for comic relief

action action

a new girls comes out of nowhere

wash, rinse, repeat; always repeat.

Itsa great n' all, but not 3- seasons worth of great

Post by: ShootBang on March 28, 2004, 07:21:44 PM: I like Tenchi Muyo, but i don't like it enough to go out and blow $25 per DVD, that and the artwork for this anime looks crappy compaired to the older Tenchi Muyo. The charectors look completely different. Skimpy clothes are ok some of the time, but tenchi was made more for the plot than to show off the animator's ability to draw a nearly naked woman. (You can tell from the web page that it's a major part of the new Tenchi Muyo GXP)

I watched a few of the first ones, saw him grow some wings and cut up guys with big explosions, and say a rabbit turn into a spaceship and love carrots a little too much. As long as the rabbit is still in it, its all good, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ITS NOT. Fewpid gives new Tenchi 1/10 for b0rking Tenchis Looks and not having the rabbit, and who the hell watches animes for skimpy asian drawings? Those weirdos obviously have never heard of Hentai oolllollll!!!!111seven

Deep character development, a great blend of eastern and western cultures, comedy and action seemlessly flowing. Independent story lines for each episode, yet the interconnectivity of the series. What's not to like?
