quicktime trailer to drool over: clicky! (http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_monsterhunter_2.html)
Simple enough premise; it's an online game much like PSO where you get together with friends and kill absolutely huuuuge dragons together. In the vein of PSO it's as much action as RPG. You can dodge, roll and there's no auto-attack.
Taking out the gigantic winged beasts can be done through all kinds of clever things like setting pit-traps, explosive barrels and of course whapping them with an assortment of blatantly over-sized swords or titanic crossbow-type-gun things.
Seems to be other stuff you can do too like fishing and the like and the environments are truely gorgeous.
Not sure when it's out or whatever but I'm glad I've got a PS2 now XD

LMAO 0mg~ IT5 Jurr4s1c p4rkz fant4sy stylez!!!1111
and whats better then cats with rock hammers and giant hungry flesh eating dragons?? Nothing. at. all.

I want a game with Jedi Knight 2 esque swordfighting (never mind the fact that jedi knight netcode was ATROCIOUS)... now that'd be fun.
-
lol, jurassic park XD
I suppose... it does seem to have a pretty detailed sorta eco-system to it. You can only get 4 players in a game from what I've read but it's still TBA so who knows =3
One thing that's impressive in the video is the scope for teamwork, it's cool seeing the way one acted as a lure while the others lay in ambush around the pit trap, or that bit with the explosive barrels in the forest ^^
and waii for the funny kitties who mimic the players lol =D

so i didnt get it, was it 'regular' multiplayer or MMORPG with p2p ?
but this game has two pwn things..
1) dragons
2) large swords, Cloud styleh - heck even large crossbows..
the concept that you can do numerous things to take down the beasts sounds good, but i kinda fear that only a few of them is going to be used, but it may just be my paranoia.
-
from what I've gathered it's definitely not MMO, but it IS online. You play with up to 3 others and go dragon killing. you can use yourselves as bait but I can see myself using a dino corpse like in the video really =3
Not sure about P2P, the general attitude towards console online games is kinda all over the place so it might be free, it might not =o

okay i just saw this an uncountable number of times, and i've come to the conclusion(together with one of my friends, who also saw this a lot of times.)
Asia Pwns.
that is all.

after awhile hunting dragons with cool sharp weapons and cats with hammers will get boring after the 50th time
-
well, you do get cooler stuff using the skins off the dragons you defeat (not sure if you sell them or craft them but) and there's other stuff you can do in the game =3
~goes fishing, catches a big fishy and slaps diablus with it~
XD

That looks pretty wicked.
But why would they want to hurt the dragons. :( Theres nothing wrong with being giant, flying, carnivorous beasts of destruction and annihilation. >:D
-
ooooo!!!!! i might have to dust off my PS2 when that comes out...... oh ya, HI! first post :D
-
ok......... I WANT IT!!
when is it due to come out?
Can anyone here read Japanese(or whatever language this is)?
Home Page (http://www.capcom.co.jp/monsterhunter/)

japanese... don't know anywhere near enough to read it neither ^^;
As for the release date most places I checked just say 'TBA' so don't expect it too soon -.-
That page has the coolest loading animations ever XD

What? You mean the school of "click mouse, run at enemy hoping he gets hurt and you don't"-style swordfighting? Even the bastard sword in ChaosUT had more finesse.

I was interested until I found out it was an online game... =/

Whats wrong with online games? Online gaming is pretty much the only gaming I do, save for some console action either with stuff like Wind Waker or when friends are over, and the GTA series on PC. But other than that, all of the games I buy are online playable.
