I'm extremely fustrated.
Countless times i have lost several outposts/games/etc. due to lack of groups.
Instance 1:
That hive should've gone down, and it would have if i didn't have to go to base, find the obs, click it with all the crap around it, and THEN press a to scan and seige.
Instance 2:
<Crack> Omg, Lito, why arn't I squad 5?
<Lito> Steam is stupid and doesn't like remapped keys, so i can't make groups.
<Crack> LIES! U h8 me!
<Lito> omg nuu~!
<Crack> </3
Instance 3:
<@gentorange> (TEAM SAY) Uhh, comm, i'm not respawning
<Lito> (TEAM SAY) What in holy hell are yo- OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! PHASE BACK! PHASE BACK!
<Lito> I didn't hear a base-attack warning, wtf...
<Lightning Blue & Crack as Onos> gg nublets
Instance 4:
<crack> God damnit, comm, i asked for a medpack like 5 minutes ago
<Lito> oh...i don't see an indication
<crack> OMG! NUB COMM! EJEKT
Instance 5:
<Lito> okay, Holy_Devil, you stay at that hive *set waypoint*, everyone else move into double res *clicks the select all marines button at the top and sets double res waypoint*
<Lito> gj guys gj...wtf...Holy_Devil, wtf are you doing in double?
<Holy_Devil> You set my waypoint here
<Lito> gg, phase is down at the last hive
*crack killed Lito with divinewind
Instance 6:
<Lito> I got something chewing on base res, hold on. *sets waypoint outside Biodome, sets down phase and turret factory*, Oh and, before i get out, i need one person to get over here *sets waypoint to computer lab*
*Lito killed crack with knife
<Lito> Alright, i'm ba- wth...why isn't anything built at bio?
**Soldiers need Order
*click
<Lito> ...Why are you all at computer lab? ._.
Instance 7:
<Lito> Alright, the tf is electrifying, move out; get me res.
**a few resnodes later
<Lito> Where the heck are all my marines..
*Tab
*3/8 marines alive...none dead are reenforcing
*looks at base
<Lito> Wtf! i thought i elec'd that tf!
<Crack> rewfls, nub comm
*the command console is under attack
Instance 8:
*Crack killed self
<Lito> HAHA, WHAT A NUB
*The command console is under attack
Instance 9:
*Crack Killed Devnull with devour
*Lito killed crack with knife
*the command console is under attack
Instance 10:
*The command console is under attack
Alright, 8, 9 and 10 don't count, but you get the idea: being able to create squads helps; </3 crack.
So bear with me when you see "Commander: Lito"
I'll unlazy myself to put in Jefe's configs ( http://www.lunixmonster.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=304 (http://www.lunixmonster.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=304) )
and hopefully, i'll be able to bant crack and die happy

Here's a good solution, drop the stupid numpad keys and play like normal?
-
NEVAR! NUMPAD FOREVAR!
wsad just doesn't work for me because its normal.
-
I hope you're joking when you say you don't use it because it's mainstream..
-
he's a rebel...
USE MY SCRIPTS AND THEY'LL WORK HOCAKES
-
#2 is fake. Dont use my name and try and say something i didnt.
-
the only one that isnt fake is #4. You had 100 res. and no meds.
Look to your left, there you have buttons that show requests. LISTEN TO THEM.
-
You can still use a seconday key for crouch and use that for squads. I normally use C to crouch in game, but I also bound ctrl to crouch just for making squads. It's still aggravating, but if you can get your marines to stand in two groups, it's not too bad. Although I still haven't figured out how to add someone to a squad later on. The holding shift + clicking them doesn't add them to a previously selected group like someone said it did. : (

actually, all were made up from real situations, i just stuck a couple new names in here and there :D

Might I suggest esdf, the champions' wasd?

CTRL + click should do it. I haven't actually tried it, but I recall seeing it in a playtester's description of the new 2.0 command interface.

ESDF > ASDF - Gives you like 3 or 4 more keys depending on who you ask. I only really use it for games with lots of keys to bind like Deus Ex 1, Tribes / Tribes2 (which comes with ESDF standard)
-
esdf is quite nice, except that the 1 key is a tad too far away for someone like me who doesn't use a "last weapon" key but prefers to just use the weapon groups instead.

Exactly what I've done, I use Q to crouch, and I had to set ctrl when I'm mking groups. But I still have the problem of my OBS having a marine icon and not assigning to a squad properly...

edsf seems pretty good, I just need to adjust to it (my fingers work by where the buttons should be, so I keep switching to my pistol when I try to goto my lmg)

Yeah. In tribes it wasn't so bad, I mean, you'll be using your frisbee cannon most of the time so.... :D I've never really liked the 'last weapon' key... seems less controlled.
-
Yup it worked good for Tribes 2 (I haven't played the original). The only problem is I'd always mess up when I switched to the regualr FPS controls in another game. So I had to get used to it after I started playing a different game each time.
