Title: NS Forums hacked

I don't know about any of you but I miss the NS forums, particularly my favorite haunts OT and Discussions.

Been down for almost a week now, anyone have any more details about what happened other then the brief description on the UWE homepage?

It was probably some stupid 13 year old that tried to learn more info on 3.1  :rolleyes: .

I don't know what takes them so long to get it in working order again... the last time they were closed for 'upgrades' it was, what, 2 or 3 months til it was back up?

Although I wouldnt be surprised if they took this opportunity to do stuff to the forums for Nexus.

I think last time when they were down they were actually rewriting some of the backend to all tie together, along with Flayra, I believe, learning PHP.

I don't know any names, but someone who knew who had hacked the NS servers and reported them told me about what happened.  Apparently someone hacked the main NS server (with icons and what not) as well as the forums and was playing around with pretty much everything.  Postcounts were changed, and icons were given to people.  One player was apparently smurfing as flayra with a dev icon.

I have no clue what needs to be done on the security end of things, but it was a pretty major hack in terms of how much access the hacker got.  Best of luck cagey

They just got access to the admin panel of invision..  I'm fairly certain the icon DB pulls from the forums DB, so adding icons doesnt seem too hard
