I hate playing NS on other servers, can I have a reserved slot?  I will be your friend.

Oops, after reading some of the other post, I guess I am not supposed to ask for it.  Thats aight!  I will stick around, I just can never get on the darn server!

asking for a slot tends to push you down the list of potential people for a while, but if you do what male suggested then you will move back up the list quicker
