I showed this to Zero in the IRC channel. Don't click it if you don't think you can handle in-depth information on parasites. It is one of the most gruesome things I have ever heard of happening to anyone, short of severe mutilation.

I know. But apparently, this has been a very common occurance in some African countries. It has been so common, in fact, that they neglected taking care of the problem for a long time.
Oh, and whatever you do, do not Google a picture of this, unless you have a strong heart. The pictures bring meaning to the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words" (am I botching this one, too?).

All the people that have it look like they're in a lot of pain. Yeah it looks really weird.

You made me google it! Bastard. That is so gross, sounds like something out of a sci-fi TV show where aliens infest your body. But damnit, these are worms that do the same thing! Aah.

EDIT: I just googled to find out about it. I now think it is very gruesome, not sweet. I saw a picture of the larva. Those spines look painful.

i saw a story on Nat. Geo. Channel about a british maroon who had a botfly in his belly.
he didnt get treatment either, and named him "George" until one day it busted through his belly... it was gross.

Haha, "busted" just sounds funny in this case. I know it would be painful and horrifying, but the word is just funny.

The term busted is a little too harsh. Could we say PIERCE, anyways I just googled it and that looks disgusting. I might not travel to those countries now.

Aww man, it's gross. I google-imaged "botfly", and a picture of an eye came up. The inside skin of the eye, you know the thing you see when you lift the flap or lid of the eye. I didn't open the picture completely, but just thinking about a botfly in your eye... Euch. I need to look at some pictures of beautiful unicorns prancing happily around green pastures and meadows while some elves in the background merrily sing a song.
