Title: Irc Clients
Post by: Niteowl on December 29, 2003, 02:36:21 PM: i used to use trillians built in one, quite nice in that it auto logs everything quite well. but it has it's limitations. now i'm using mIRC. it's ok. i used it so that it ties into my HLSW so i can tell the fogies where i'm playing when i connect.

any one use anything else and have reasons for recommending it?

From what I understand, HydraIRC is leet because it allows you to connect to multiple servers. It's also not nearly as much of a gawddamn eyesore as mIRC ^^

You can be on more then 1 server in mIRC to.

I hasten to tell you that it's IRC clients, not mIRC clients. IRC (short for Internet Relay Chat) is a chat protocol, mIRC is one particular IRC client used for connecting to IRC servers. I'm only correcting you because this way I know it'll be done without flaming. Never know otherwise, some people are overly passionate about this...

Post by: CommunistWithAGun on December 30, 2003, 02:32:59 AM: I use mIRC, mostly because its clean, and efficient, and it dosen't steal your attention away with pretty looks (Hydra, etc) Its convienient too. I hate how it looks but Im on IRC to talk, not stare at a skin.

Actually, it's a very powerful script if you're running a file server or suchlike, but I'm not, so it's just a toy. Also has nice white text on black background default color scheme.

Post by: devicenull on December 30, 2003, 03:05:06 PM: I've used most of the ones out there, I used a highly customized mIRC (I rewrote all the channel display stuff in its scripting), I find HydraIRC works a lot more efficently them mIRC.. I still use a copy of mIRC for nullbot, just because HydraIRC doesnt have scripting now
