Since we got a video game list, lets make a list of the absolute best movies. These CANNOT be debated. They are 100% awesome movies.
Evil Dead series. Army of Darkness. Indiana Jones trilogy. The Matrix (1) LOTR trilogy. The Abyss The Thing Alien, Aliens Austin Powers Canadian Bacon (I REALLY DO LIKE JOHN CANDY DAMMIT) ORIGINAL star wars trilogy Last Samurai Braveheart Saving Private Ryan Band of Brothers Fight Club
... er.. wow thats all I can come up off the top of my head...

ok, we really really REALLY need to narrow the type of movies we are talking about. it seems we've already picked the genre of ACTION movies, right?
starship troopers robocop (don't get me started about the sequels, gods be damned) red dawn bloodsport die hard lethal weapon crouching tiger, hidden dragon the professional la femme nikita predator aliens kill bill vol 1 matrix all lotr all long kiss goodnight the bourne identity

I second Shawshank Redemption and Boondock Saints, and i would like to ammend Enter the Dragon, and Return of the Dragon (original manderin version, english version takes out all the comedy)

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (I liked it better than the first) Bloodsport Scarface Godfather Predator Die Hard
Overload, too many to remember. You'd be set for awhile with those, though. This is also a pretty general list like some peeps already said...
