I actually got in, you wouldn't want to play that game anyway.

Lito = nubtart :p

When a slotter joins, the server has 17 players for a short while untill someone is booted, and sometimes it takes awhile for it to notice a player has been kicked, as you will notice if you count the players, 16 are shown. :)

Oh noes, how horrible, you had to wait three minutes to play Natural Selection!

Anyway, just hit the "Auto-Join" option if a server is full; It automatically connects to the server when a spot is open.

I love that feature, takes like 15-30secs to connect!

In those situations......

I just hit Refresh every few minutes, and wait for the numbers to be 15/17.

^^ I often find myself counting seconds that seem like eternity while waiting for a free slot on some servers

Yeah, that's what I did for months :)

You have to remember that in a reg-stuffed game like that, there could be about 5 non-slotters all trying to get in, so as soon as it hits 16/17, the server lets them on for a few seconds - so the auto-retry is your friend.

Wow, your complaining about waiting 3 minutes to get in?  Back before I got a reserved slot I had to wait a good hour to half a hour to get into that server.  /me ends ranting flashback

On a side note the res slot plug in is acting up a little bit.  Yesterday I got kicked due to another res sloter joining.  When I rejoined a few minutes later my res slot was gone.  Then after I talked to Bob for a few minutes ago my res slot was back.   I think the slot system is acting up and someone should take a look at the plug in and make sure it working properly.

Hi.  I wasn't a res slot all my life either.  Thanks for coming out.  But now I do have a res slot, i'd like to use this privilage to play when I feel like playing on the server.

Heh, This sounds bad, but it's been a looong time since I've waited in queue for LM. I always pop in whenever I want to play. I never think of the people I kick until I'm ingame :p Sorry guys

We know where you live. The bitter ex-slotters will be visiting you shortly in a battered old yellow Ford Cortina to teach you some respect.

How many times do we  have to mention that you're complaining about having to wait three minutes? Go to the bathroom, get something to drink, check up on some stock reports; Three minutes isn't a very long time.

Best suggestion to date ^_^.

Oh and yeah, adminmod likes to lag at the most inopportune times ;).

Anyways, we all have the same silly problem.  So if the server is absolutely full, your reserved slot guarantees you a slot when the playercount drops to 16 (even IF a non-slotter is trying to join.  Believe it or not, slot 17 IS our reserved slot.  If it's occupied because of another reserved slotter, the server is seen as full and our reserved slot isn't available.

No it doesn't. The server doesn't let non-slotters on until the playercount hits 15 or less.

UNLESS it's like, lagging. On old hera tombomb kept getting in when there was no  slots left and ned was getting the boot ^_^.

Doesn't autoretry not recognize resslots and joins when there is a slot available?  Before I got my slot, I had to sit there, masshing my enter key on "refresh", camping for the 15/17

It depends on how the reserved slot is configured, I believe.  On some servers, it is hidden; this means non-reservists can use auto-retry, but it also means reservists must force a connect to join a full server.

Precisely as you stated Lito.

Other tricks are to time the game, and try and sneak in very quick on mapchange. This is getting somewhat easier now that LM has a growing tendency to lag out on mapchange... A resourceful nonslotter can try and sneak in, hehe.

try a console connect, those bypass the steam "joo r nub, servar is full" dialogue and actually ask the server if you can join

I just use HLSW to connect just change the dir to steam and it works fine for me.

However, the server was actually full.  If the server is stuck at 17/17 for a while, what it usually means is that someone is connecting but taking an unusually long time to do so.  A non-slotter who forces a connect, for example, is not booted until the server finds out their steamID and kicks them off.  A reserve slotter taking forever to connect will not boot a non-slotter off until the server finds out their steamID.  Blame cruddy ISPs for the three-minute delay

Often when it's 16/17 I can get into the server, but I'm promptly kicked out once it realizes I'm not special.  I don't think I've ever waited more than a minute to play though (I'll just switch servers if the wait is that long).
