Like the topic said, my friend's gonna be DMing a D&D game over IRC and we need a few players, probably just one or two, to participate. Just talk to me whenever I'm on if you're interested.
MSN = g a l i n s t a r @ h o t m a i l . c o m (just remove all the spaces)
Skype = Architeuthis
And I'm almost always around on IRC
Note that this WON'T be a serious game at all, the rules we use are VERY loosely based on D&D and it's mainly just to mess around and have fun.
That's about it!
edit: My friend wants to add that hot chicks will be picked over greasy nerds!
WARNING: PLAYING D&D MIGHT RESULT IN THIS!!!

I'm in. \o/

Does it matter if we basically have no clue whatsoever about the rules of D&D?

Like hell it does.
We've done plenty of newbie initiations and we're used to it. The way we do it no, you don't have to know anything when you start. This is also why we all get together an hour or two before the game starts, it always takes a while to get everyone ready.
-
Cool I'm in I've been wanting to try out D&D for a while now. The only problem is the only group I know of my brother and his friends are in, and if you know anything about them you don't want to be anywhere near them for long periods of time. (This is the same one that made me listen to Good Charlotte)
-
Screw it, if I have to reinstall IRC, I have to reinstall IRC. Got any specific mods you're adding (Oriental Adventures, etc...), and what version (3.0, 3.5?)?
Other than that.....
A s a l S k u l l t a k e r @ h o t m a i l . c o m (for MSN, again no spaces[NONE! AT ALL!])
Contact me if you need another player.
Note: Greasy Nerd.

D&D...over IRC.
(Hears sonic running away)
I'm in!

What edition and revision are you going to play? If it's third edition, count me out <_<
(they n00bzorzed the game in 3rd, I played 2nd special for about 4 years a while ago :p )
-
Edition? Hahahahahahahaha, obviously you guys missed the part where I said "It's VERY loosely based on D&D". I don't think edition even matters, unless my friend decides to change the way we usually do it. I'll have to ask him when he's on.
Also, not all of you will be chosen. Too many players gets hectic and makes it really hard for the DM to follow, from what we've seen in previous games. I'm just looking for 2-3 players, maybe 4. We'll see how things turn out. I'll contact everyone I want when the time comes :p
-
I wouldn't mind joining if there is room. I used to play D&D all the time at camp ( fun as hell)
-
This thread is not to be spammed. Offending posts deleted at the request of the thread starter, and postcounts have been reduced appropriately.
-
I'd like to join you and play, as I'm always up for a good bit if anything that keeps my imagination going. I'll check to see if there's anything going on this weekend to be sure I've got the time open (although it shouldn't be a problem).
-
can i play?
-
Hey... I wouldn't mind being in :D

2nd ED had rules FOR HAMMERING NAILS INTO STUFF! yes...yes it did, only one nail per turn!!!!! which reminds me, Archi, that rule better be present, and we better use it for something rediculess.
BTW, i'm not a 2nd ED nor 3rd ED fanboi, heck, i don't really play D&D.
-
Yeah could be fun.
I choose Monk!
-
I think I better post an example of one of the previous games we had.
http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/galinstar/theshockerDnD.txt (http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/galinstar/theshockerDnD.txt)
This was over a year ago, maybe two, so the way we do things has improved a lot. But this'll give you a general idea of what the game will be like. It isn't so much about killing stuff and leveling up than exploring the DM's world and see what crazy crap he'll come up with next :D
Players in this were Sephiroth (the nick he used at the time), Alty, TDE and me.
Seph was named after Sephiroth so he decided to roleplay a raging, drunken version of him.
Alty was just Alty. She was the only sane one of the bunch.
TDE was Adian. He was an idiot and the DM made sure to torture him a lot because of that.
And then there was me, Duuurrrr, the amazing retarded dwarf!
Anyway, if you read the .txt file, you can see that these aren't serious games at all. I keep stressing that fact but it's true :D
-
I too want in on this- I've been wanting to try D&D for a while now.
(its not against the religion. Only Chick and his shenanigans doing things say so, the little molester).
-
uh, if it's tommorrow morning/afternoon, or tonight, i can do it. it looks like groovy interactive irc fiction, which is just up my geeky hole addled brain. i choose the mystical senile once-mighty warrior owl!
-
People have been chosen, sorry to the rest of ya!
Elimination process was first made with my friend who scanned the thread for people he didn't like. Then the rest was done by flipping a coin to see who got in and who didn't.
He's the DM, so he gets to pick his players!
Sorry folks!

*cries* ....
NASAL! There... I feel much better now
-
I can run a Shadowrun game if you heathens know the rules :D
-
Shadowrun would be interesting with U-235 as a GM. And yes, I'll send you D56 Shadowrun once I'm done.
-
I know someone's going to get at least annoyed at me with asking, but what is Shadowrun?
-
Shadowrun is a cyberpunk/fantasy mix. Think Bladerunner meets Tolkien for starters. The basic idea is while the future become a near future dystopia, magic returned to the world. You play as shadowrunner, criminials hired by corporations to do various illegal things. It's a great setting if the rules have their problems.
Learn more here (http://www.wizkidsgames.com/shadowrun/sr_article.asp?cid=38213)
It should be noted that the above link leads to a Shadowrun Duels site, a different game set in the same universe.
-
The rules in Shadowrun can be complex but house rules cover a lot - I prefer instead of 'overdone' to think of them as 'complete'. You can play the game how you want - Remove all magic from the game if you like. Make it a Deckerfest.
If you're up for a Shadowrun game of sorts, let me know... if you know shadowrun and you can GM let me know too since I vastly prefer playing to GMing (Some people prefer GMing to playing, like comming in NS)
Unfortunately the rules are far too complex to explain here. If we do do the game you need:
1) SR3
2) CC
3) SRComp
4) M&M
5) R3 - Not really necessary but nice to have.
-
I'm in for Shadowrun :D Haven't played or read it in a while, so i'm rusty.
And about the books, i have:
SR3
CC
M&M
MitS(magic expansion)
SRComp
Matrix
Corperate Download(Corp sourcebook).
-
Won't be needing Matrix - It's a fun book to have but Decking can be really boring for other players :p
SRComp and SR3 are of course the big two you NEED. M&M and CC gimp you if you don't have em but I guess they're not mandatory...
BTW I'll be running this on the forums - In our FanFic section - this works rather well since I've seen it used on a forum before - it's organized and lets you plan out longer, though it does tend to be a bit slower paced.
Direct all inquiries to the FANFIC forum :D
-
erh, i wouldn't say that CC is really needed, unless you want to make a gun yourself, if you just want the guns that are already made, then a gunlist can do it, and i think i made one such and sent it to RPG hoard i think, did it a long time ago, and it wasn't complete iirc, i think it had everything up to shotguns.
Oh an yes, Matrix probably isn't needed, i just brought it since...well i had money to burn :p, the times i've played we did it without Matrix, so well....

Yeah CC is less necessary but some of the rules in there are nice to know, and the massively expanded weaponry list is a godsend :D
-
well yes the new weapons are nice, but you can just have a weap list, with a notice of which weapons has special rules, and BAM! you're settled, and btw, why qouting the post just above your own post :p
-
hmmm... RP on IRC? I'd almost be tempted if it wasn't too late to join and I've got stuff to do =3
-
Holy crap it's Gem come back from the grave D:
-
lol, I've always been around silly; just been busy :p
-
The shadowrun game on the SNES was great :o
-
lol, I've always been around silly; just been busy :p
You never call.... you never write... sometimes... I think you just *sob* don't care about us anymore!
-
Shadowrun was freaking awesome, though I only read some of the books a LONG long time ago.
I guess I'm more used to free-form no-rules, no-dice RP (textbased MUSH-style), but do you think it would be okay if I maybe just sit in and watch? ^^
-
I'm doing it over the forums (It's easier to coordinate, since it requires no coordination for timezones and such, and I can abuse your posts if you get out of hand :D)
-
The other rulebooks are nice, but really are needed for everyone. I mean M&M has some nice cyberware and the even better counterpart bioware, MiTS has all sorts of magic junk, but they really aren't needed. As for guns, The Shadowrun Gun Page (http://matrix.dumpshock.com/raygun/).
