where'd the second half of my name go? i feel like half a person :-(
-
check under your bed! And on that note:
haHA! estoy usando el internet!
-
your name was quite long and was stretching the boards which is why i believe it was shortened by one of the all powerful forum lords
-
Someone probably realized that your name was his name, too. He had to change it to avoid confusion.

well, it COULD be argued that i am THE johnjacobjingleheimerschmidt and that it is an insult to my name to take off the second half of it. perhaps the whole point of hte name(well, this is truth) was to create a name SO long that admins would be unwillling to type it in in order to kick/ban me. made things a little easier :_). so taking part of my name away makes my name less of what it is...ish.
-
OLO h4x
all they have do is admin_ban userid13 or whatnot
[If you really wanted to be a llama you would use names that make HL eff up and spit out characters for names, making it impossible to ban/kick [unless they use the steamid, which is just an extra bit of work  ]
oh yeah, I guess I share his sentiments becuase of my e-mail address :D

if i type in admin_ban john, adminmod will look through players with *john* in their name, if there is only one: goodnight, john. if not: it spits an error message at you.
(for even less typing, try "hmi")

well, if that doesn't set off alarm bells, i don't know WHAT will. o_O
-
me
*sets off alarm bells*
but in all seriousness, long names for online things are fun!
[edit]
There is two F's, not one
[/edit]

well, you could always make 'heimerschmidt' a custom title for him. that way he gets his whole name whether he likes it or not. that'll teach him.
-

don't worry, the name waw originally made for dod, a game i was actually good at and got kicked from servers for being too good, etc.
it's never been a problem in ns :-(
-
Bob, that post was pure win... You have made my day!

I'm glad a few people got the reference. When I think back to the torture sessions, also know as 'choir practice' in grade school when we had to sing that song along to a video of dancing kids with chipmunk voices who looked like they were all on very expensive amphetamines... well, the memory is a painful one, to say the least.

when I read that my leg started twitching
-
For the record, we just have to type in the first letter of your name and a box shows up with everyone whose name matched. We could just put in 'john' and you'd pop up for banning fun.
-
ya,h so i've been told by just about everyone who i've told about how i came up with this name
keep in mind, this was like 4 or 5 years ago before i knew anythinga bout how anything worked interms of servers/admins/whatever, i was noob, but it's a cool name
-
I saw someone in planetside whose name was a random mix of 'l' and '|'. The thing is, Planetside draws | and l exactly the same, so no one would randomly spamvite him to squads and outfits since they couldn't get his name right :D
-
Bah, just call him JJJS or Jx3+S, Triple-J(ay)S, J-Man-S, Supar kewl thugfaecd J, or just call him... Jingle! Hell, there's nothing wrong with abbreviations kids!
Ah... X-J-J-J-S-Z

X-S-Z....you forgot the h in all of those :-(, have i not only been downsized on the forums, but in the game too? shall i only be johnjacobjingleschmidt?

No! German no ok, Spanish only! If you no speak spanish, english ok. Speaking of spanish, where's Loke, that sleek peruvian?
-
Anata no nihongo wo hanashimash|ta ka?
CURSE YOU FILTER, CAN'T I SPEAK IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE WITHOUT BEING PLAGUED BY YOUR EVIL INTENTIONS!?
-
Bleh, I thought it was Jingleheimer (heimor, heifer, hemmeriod, whatever) not Jingle Heife- er, Heimer.

Reminds me of old-schooI AOL troIIing, go-go-gadget AriaI font!
-
Reminder: In order to facilitate ease-of-communication, these boards enforce the use of the english language. Either that, or we all learn esperanto.
-
the ONLY way to make your name impossible to kick is to put a ~ in it. This is possible by editing half-life files. The end result is when the user attempts to type your name into the console, he closes it instead. This can easly be evaded though a kick aginst a partial name, uniqueID, or steamID.
I'd say those DoD admins were just idiots. What a suprise there.
-
well redford, to tell you a horrible secret that i don't like to reveal...it's only ever been done once or twice :-( i guess i'm just not good enough to be a hacker, and one of those times i was kicked beCAUSE i wouldn't change my name. they were all like "OMG YOUR NAME IS LONG CHANGE IT NOW NOOB"
i cried and said...no.
