Title: Xfire
Post by: @gentOrange on June 13, 2004, 05:18:20 PM
Alright, everyone with Xfire fork over your id's. Everyone without go into your NS folder and install it.

Oh, why you ask? Well it's great for tracking your friends down for games that aren't HL related and it looks snazzy.

ag3ntorange is my id.

Oh on another note, tell me if it detects ns 3.04 for you because it wont for me!

It isn't spyware.
Flayra said so, the X-Fire FAQ says so, and the guy in charge of X-Fire even came to the NS forums and told us it wasn't spyware.

By the way people, next to your ID could you add if you have UT2k4 or not?

I just uninstalled the piece of crap.

First when i installed it and tried to make an account it just kept freezing FireFox.
I tried with IE and no success there either.
Then when i started up X-Fire again it froze mIRC.
After that it Froze ForeFox again, then i uninstalled it -_-'

grayduck - both steam and Xfire.  I'd rather steam friends work but if it's going to be crappy at least I can fall back on xfire.

The idiots on the ns forums seem to be forging ad-aware and spybot results, I've scanned my system various times after its been installed, and it has not once been detected

Some person
consties, vets, pt's, should not get good ol' spyware with thier NS, we give a lot to NS, its kinda lame that spyware comes "Free" with NS. I ask this if you wanna give spyware to us guys, thats fine, however PLEASE remember the guys that contribute should be immune to xfire and its "relevent advertisements" we already have STEAM which is enough for connecting to other gamers. Why add spyware to our beloved NS, I love the work the devs do, and try to help in every way I can, but this will have a backlash that will stur up quite a hornets nest.
GG, Reason #1 why icons SUCK

No where there does it say anything bad.  It pretty much says they aren't responsible for the LINKS YOU CLICK from their service.
