MOER POWA!!!!
so yea, $200 bucks, i want a video card...
my problem is i cant decide between ATI and Nvidia
Discuss.
-
9600 XT? Or wait for the 9800 Pro's to be $200.
-
What Isamil said, I'm kinda tired of Nvidia.
-
Radeon is supposedly a bit faster than Geforce, at least with every fancy effect turned on, and with Direct3D games. but it's quite close.
Try to find Toms hardware tests for a proper comparison, that's where i looked.
EDIT: I just remembered..... Let's -not- turn this into a fanboy OMG THAT PWNS thread.
-
radeon 9600 or 9800 if you want to spend a bit more :p
i bought the 9600 ^_^
goooo ati!
-
I have been considering ATI myself.
Aren't there like 28360983 different variations of the 9600 and 9800? Or are they all the same with a different name slapped on?
-
ATI, since they sponsored that tourney, and all.
-
A 9800 pro is just an overclocked 9800. If you can still FIND a regular old 9800, you can soft overclock it and get the same performance. Or you could just leave it alone and get almost the same performance (like a 3 fps drop or something). And save 100 dollars. :D

Sancho it's the same Chipset(that's why it's named Radeon you know :p), so yeah, it's basically the same.

The Tourney that never took place huh? :p

Waitaminute - isn't it still going to happen, once 3.0 has been officially officially released?
-
When that happens the 9800s will be ancient
-
actually guys, IVe made a different decision
ima have about 3k in the bank at the end of the summer, and my parents are willing to spend 1.5k on a laptop for college... im thinking i can add my 3k to the laptop, and get an Awesome laptop a 4.5k laptop would be nice
-
Cept laptops are ass for gaming, but whatever...
-
yea, but if i spend 4k on a laptop its bound to be better than spending 3.5k on a laptop, AND upgrading my comps ram, os, monitor (which is going out anyway), vid card, processor, and hard drive
cause i have to have the laptop anyway...
-

Then get a dinky laptop and concentrate on your desktop. The laptop is going to be out of date sooner or later.
-
yeah, just get a decent laptop for internet/schoolwork use and stuff like that, and for gaming build some kick ass desktop or something
-
$600 can get you a great rig
-
Get a mediocre laptop so then you can play Starcraft on it olll :D :D.
But yeah, neither company matters much, its usually just one slightly faster than the other in some areas. Go with whichever you find cheaper.
