Well since the map request thread is starting to lean to being spammed. I decided to make this thread, in here you can argue nicely over custom maps, official maps, etc. on spawn locations, map designs, why it suxx0rz or r0xx0rz, just keep it at a low debating level. :lol:

Uhm... aim_map suxorz! Awp_map suxorz! Also, I like pai.

Yeah, I don't know much else what to complain about. I think I got my point across in the other thread already... If you spawn in direct view of an enemy, a map is flawed. All spawns should be seperated from enemy spawns by visibility blockers!

Thats why awp_map 2 has you spawn in 20 ft trenches :ph34r:

but i hate all awp_maps, with a passion. but scout maps on the other hand...total pwntage. cough cough scoutznknivez map :D

but the whole point of aim_map is quick rounds, where you can focus on aiming


who cares if you get capped on spawn becuase you will probably respawn in < 30 seconds...


I could care less if I get shot at spawn, becuase I will spawn again


put aim_map in before I kidnap LB and hunz and force them into putting it on anyways!

And what's the point of 'aim' when you've got a five second countdown in which to do the aiming? That doesn't teach you anything! A blind man with a trackball shoved up his arse could still get a headshot on that map. At least get a map where people have to move out of the EXACT info_player_start that they spawn at in order to kill someone.

The problem, TaK, is when it happens fifteen times in a row. Because guess who doesn't have an awp upon spawning? Right, the guy who died last round.

solution: don't let them get the awp, you have to get terrible exposed to get it :p



HOWEVER

when it happens 15 times in a row, you can tell whoever it was to knock it off, since penguin down is a closed server, you should know who is doing it, and if it occurs time after time after time, the bring the wrath of the LM to bear. The whole reason I suggested it is becuase most people *won't* do that upon start, and we can *easily* deal with those who do...    :(    just let me have aim_map already

anyone get a lot angrier at losing in CS than NS?
if i lose in NS, i usually don't care, or get all emo! but, cs.. it's PURE RAAAGE!! i wonder why that is..

I actually get less angry losing/dying in Counterstrike than in Natural Selection, mostly because Counterstrike has remained relatively the same without any major game-breaking/fun-ruining changes with blatant and extremely annoying exploits (*cough*bunnyhoppingwithknockback*cough*) made to it.

A little cheap trick on Steam servers that run the aim_awp maps (As long as you're a CT): In those first five seconds of a round, but the Tactical Sheild. In most situations I've been in, it seems to work well enough, but I stop using the Sheild once the scores have been evened a bit.

TAK, please explain to me how pointing a awp/Ak/Colt (especially with the EXTREMELY SMALL crosshairs currently 1.6) and then pressing the fire button once for a kill? If you "learn" anything from the aim_maps like that, you learn how to kill a AFKer....which as you know, are like extremly hard to kill these days. especially the ones with the usps and glocks!

becuase aim_map is quick, fun, and would be sweet to play with the LM cs'ers, the map takes less that 8 seconds to download thru steam on dsl, that's just about the time it takes for the security module

Find an aiming map that doesn't have exposed spawn points and we'll talk. Aiming maps where you can stand at one spawn point and shoot someone at another spawn point are not fun. The mapper could have fixed this with another five minutes worth of effort. As it is, though, I'm going to be against it until that one simple thing changes.

Yes, awp_city! I mentioned that in the original map request thread. Not sure if I pimped it in this one yet. But it's great. Hidden spawns, lots of nooks and crannies to hide in, fun map. And you can ninja over and knife people. WIN!

ive played it. there is 1 spawn spot by a big wooden box that, if buytime is set, you can say hello to the spectator team for that round!

unless im thinking of another map which i doubt :lol:

I would rather not see aim/fy/he/whatever maps on the server. There are already plenty of servers out there that run those kinds of maps, plenty to pick and choose from. I like having our own little server where we can play normal games with eachother.

i'm with grim on that issue since it is no fun to spawn and immediately die, which is why i'm against awp_map, and any aim_map.

it is just horrible to spawn for a round of either of those and die right off only to spectate again <_<

spawn issues are why it is dumb.  Spawncamping is dumb, and there is a reason it is banned on LM.  Because it is not fun.  Any map with exposed spawn points is not any fun to play IMO

Nah I'm not even civilized enough not to spawncamp. I'm a wee bit too competative for that. If there's an enemy in front of me and I've got a gun, I can't fight the urge to put the crosshair on his head and start clicking. It's hardwired into my genes. Or possibly my jeans. *checks pance*

TAK, the hell are you talking about? If a map is made with something so obvious as open spawn points, then it should be played as though the spawn points were open. Maps should be played the way they are, and the only exception is when there is some bits and peices of maps that people with too much free time have found or learned from someone else that they can exploit (camping above a key door on a map by sitting on the 'Exit' sign, for example).
