It appears that GameSurge is under a massive network-wide DDoS attack.

They really should get some servers at DDoS-protected datacenters.

That was since debunked; what they're saying is that it is possible that it might eventually come out sometime down the road.

It may not matter how much more powerful the PS3 is than the XBOX360. The 360 may come out as much as a year earlier, but likely at least 6 months. This may push the PS3 back to second position.

One comment I heard about the PS3 videos was that the PS3's graphics were very aliased (blocky stepped edges), whereas the xbox 360 does anti aliasing on every single game all the time.

It seems to me like the XBOX360 has a more powerful GPU, whereas the PS3 has a more powerful CPU. But it may not actually matter, because SMP in games only can get you so far.

The graphics in the PS3 demos DID look better (other than the aliasing), however it's too early to tell if that is really true.

Unstickying to make room for an OFFICIAL IMPORTANT SOUNDING TOURNY! Also, Google took down the DL link due to complaints.

No, Google took down the DL link because their beta was full and they didn't need any more people. Even Google can't sustain a huge amount of people without properly allocating resources to deal with it.

If only the screen could be the actual headset on the rines heads, or the kharra's eyes. Lightly tinted green, all the waypoints and dialog that could feed through the left side of the visor lets say, would be transparent so you could still see. Skulks with red eyes, gorges with green, lerks with yellow, fade and onos black and white. Different shapes for different stages of course    >:D

You can do all that now with HL1. It's just that permanent fullscreen overlays are stupid so nobody uses them like that :p

They are ascii 1 and 2, which are "start of heading" and "start of text" respectively. Since they're non-printable chars, there is absolutely no problem filtering them out.

After filtering those two out, the file seems to upload fine:

http://tekfile.net/file.php?id=45:708a

I could filter out all non-printable chars, but I'm wary of the performance implications of doing that on stings up to 256KB in size. Also I wonder how exactly the "file" command determines what format the files are. If I filter out all non-printables, might it think everything is text?

Let me know if you have trouble with any other files.

Hmm, it is reported as an application/octet-stream...

Looks like my best bet is to filter out the chars in question.

Very good, you checked for file size after it was uploaded :)

Yep, the HTML limit is only the first line of defence ;)

Can you tar/zip/whatever it up and email it to me? (guspaz@gmail.com)

I'll need to run it through the pipeline and see what TekFile is coming up with internally. I might have to add an exception like support another MIME type, or stripping out that particular character.

What is the file extension? TekFile checks both the file extention, and the mime type (as reported by the "file" utility). It only accepts htm, html, css, js, and txt.

I know where you're coming from. Again, not nearly as serious as you, but I've got ADD, which can make me very irritable on occasion.

ADD tends to make people either focus on something super-hard, or be unable to concentrate on something. Luckily, gaming seems to be one thing I can concentrate on very well. Or is that unluckily since schoolwork is something I can't concentrate on?

Anyhow, it's that concentration and intensity that can lead to trouble when something doesn't go the way I'd like. I can get quite worked up about things in-game that probably don't matter.

Oh well, now you know.

And knowing is half the battle!

That's beyond my control, I use the standard HTML forms for uploading. In other words, it's all the browser handling the upload.

I just specify a file upload form and the browser does the rest.

It actually looks something like this (With other HTML stripped out):

<form name='formText' enctype='multipart/form-data' method='post' action='index.php'>
<input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="262144">
<input type='file' name='textfile' size=30>
<input type='submit' name='SubmitText' value='Upload File'>

And yes, I did forget to close the form tag. Confused, you have a nack for making me discover OTHER bugs than what you report :p

Done, it now checks if the file is only whitespace and treats that as an empty file.

Find more bugs please! :)

Hmm, I did...

It seems your file was not quite empty, but had a newline in it.

I'll look into filtering out stuff that only has whitespace.
