Title: The Ultimate End-Game Alamo
Post by: A Boojum Snark on December 03, 2004, 05:24:02 PM
So we were on ns_caged, aliens had just got the 3rd hive, someone had sneaked off to vent and got a phase up, we then rushed and killed the hive after which we all were slaughtered.

Aliens are now down to two hives for the moment and we are alamoing in marine start. After much yelling at scooter he finally gives me a welder (apparently he wasn't paying attention to textchat :p), and after failing to get human laddered into the MS vent I get dropped a pack of mines which I get along with a fallen shotgun and work my way into the vent. At the corner I meet a skulk who promptly gets some buckshot in the face. Scooter dropps a CC just outside the vent in upper sewer which I build, I drop an IP in the vent at the vertical section, build that, and weld myself in.

Marine start had already begun to fall while I was doing this and everyone was soon respawning in our little fort. Someone mentions that greenground is out in purification station so I get in the CC through the closed vent (ogm aboos D: [but it lead to much fun >_>]) and drop green an armory followed by an obs and arms lab. My CC dies before I get around to beaconing and green wanders off and dies after awhile.

We are now locked in the vent with armor 2 and weapons 3 (aliens never did find the sekrat upgrade outpost). We hold our ground for about 10 minutes killing skulks and fades after which we begin boosting ourselves up the vent and back towards MS. All this time we had been keeping my welder alive to weld the IP. At one point near the end we alllllllmost got out into MS but were 1 player short for the ladder. Shortly after this the aliens finally figure out they can take care of us with a train of fades, of which we killed 3 or 4.

All total we lasted about 15-20 minutes I think and got around 75-80 res from the kills. All the marines were having great fun along with most of the aliens as far as I could tell given there wasn't any complaining. (*cough*except for rad*cough*:p)

Finally, pix of our fort! :D (game ended around the 48 min mark, these were taken somewhere in the first half of our endeavor)

1834:43 <@ABoojumSnark-PotI> tooky you nub
1834:46 <@ABoojumSnark-PotI> READ MY DARN POST
1834:52 <@ABoojumSnark-PotI> i say in it how long we lasted
1834:53 <@ABoojumSnark-PotI> <_<
1835:20 <@ABoojumSnark-PotI> paragraph before the last is where i say

and to answer tooky's new question, i did have mines. I only used 3 getting into the vent so I layed the 4th along the big section which got a skulk kill.

Actually, I was having fun, but 15 minutes in a stalemate was getting to the point of insanity, all I did was push it along. We did end up finishing it.

That last stand was funny, what with that empty shotgun kicking about the vent and the welder being passed along the chain. It's ridiculous how many kills we got, i picked up about 10-15 kills alone just in that vent, i guess that's only because they didn't notice the upgrades outpost. Silly aliens. :)

Imagine an onos sucking on the vent like a kid sucks on the straw of a SunnyD bottle...

I was in a game with a last stand exactly like that, except we had jetpacks.  A fade came down, got injured quite a bit, and tried to escape.  Unfortunately, a lerk was blocking the exit so I flew after him and actually killed em.  Spore+Acid rocket = lewse D:

Haha, I remember that too.  The lerk wanted him to live, so we had to do it ourselves.

ABS: I think it was the same game. I know it was on caged too.

Nope :p I would remember something like that, and I know there were never 4 onos in that game.

ther were two on the sewer side and two on the double side standing on a sensory. of which i was the top most and thus when you fled from the others you went straight down the throat.

You use the old HMG?  WTF?

It's the old GL in the pics.

Ah yes, heh. Awhile ago I grabbed that model out of my 1.0 zip to use for the LMG because I was tried of the current one considering you see the LMG for most of the game, and I've never liked any customs cause they don't really fit with the rest of the game :\

Crispy: it was the GL in 1.0, however the model was originally for the HMG during pre-release, so technicly it is the ooooooold HMG as red said ;) (but in all honesty the size of the weapon fits the LMG best)

Maybe I should replace my hmg with that. I never liked the new hmg model. It looks TOO archaic.

What use would you get from replacing any models, LF? :p You don't exactly play anymore.
