I got this done - unfortunately I can't get the transparency to work with text, probably because I'm a transparency nub. But I have this so far:

Actually, now that I think about it I could just make you two different images (one with the "TOMBOMB" and the other with the picture of the bomb) that total 200 pixels width each (lb or Hunz back me up on whether this is allright) They would mesh together seamlessly and all that.

But if Esuna or Sati or anybody could tell me how to consolidate them in a single image, that's be cool too.

So it would look like this - I think the effect is quite cool. But I'm sure there's an easier way...*shrug*

Well, tell me if you like it tombomb. I'm gonna get some lunch and eat outside now. ^_^

lol, go into your controls and select 'edit signature' from the list on the left.
Now in there put http://www.whateverthepicsurlis.com/siggy.jpg
replacing the < bracket thingies with the square ones ^^

edit:oh and remember to hit the 'update signature' button underneath too afterwards :)

You can get LB to host it for you - each image is 4kb so it doesn't even approach the limit. Right now they're hosted on the free hosting I got with my Fragfiles.org (http://www.fragfiles.org) account - and I'm not sure what the bandwidth on that would be (so either signing up for your own or just leeching off mine wouldn't work very well).

Anywho, just throw lb or hunz a pm and I'm positive they'll be more than glad to hook you up in a timely fashion :)

*edit* Thanks gem ^_^ Tom - look at gem's post if you have trouble with actually getting the sig to work at all.

Here they both are for your use - I'm gonna replace my sig with my own now. Just copy and paste this in the section gem told you about - no spaces or anything:
Code: [Select]

You should be good to go :)

Of course you're welcome to use my hosting if you want - I just can't tell you if they just won't work all of a sudden on account of the fact that I have no idea how much bandwidth I get with this free deal.

Just beware if it stops working - if that ever happens, you can ask LB to do what I said above and give you unlimited hosting on the Lunixmonster box :)

But yeah - it was no problem :)

Well I'll be...my only problem was just rasterizing the layer styles on the type - bwhever I flattened the two halves together the transparency would disappear for some reason or another.

If you use "merge visible", it will keep transparencies, although I just copied and pasted them side by side in a new image with a transparent background. Besides, if you ever loose transparency, and your transparence becomes white, remember that it is pure white (255,255,255) and you can use the magic wand (with a tolerence of 0) and delete the white that it replaced the transparency with, thus restoring the transparent background.

Yep - the white was exactly what I was talking about. I think the reason that I wasn't able to get the transparency back was that fact that I was working with the file as a jpg rather than a gif. Once I saved it as a gif and THEN went back and merged them, it worked fine :)

I guess you really do learn something new every day. Thanks Sati!

I was working with the file as a jpg rather than a gif.
Try creating a new project and just copy/paste the image into that new project (hint: when you create a new project and you have an image on your clipboard, it automatically suggests that the new project be the size of your clipboard image = very helpful). The reason I suggest you use a new project and then put the image into that instead of directly editing the image (jpeg or gif) is because project files support everything, all colors, full/partial transparencies, the whole bit. Jpegs don't support transparencies (as you have found out) and Gifs don't support more than 256 colors or partial transparencies. Using the project file gives you freedom to create an image exactly like you want it, perfect in every aspect, then you can export that and convert it to a gif or jpeg or tiff or png or whatever.

Just a little advice ^_^
