Best thing about Shadowrun (although this may have changed in newer editions) was that through obscene amounts of luck, it would have been possible to survive the detonation of a nuclear bomb even if you were sitting on it.

well yea.... your Body stat can reduce damage....however you need to roll higher than the power level...so, sitting on a nuclear bomb and survive is perhaps a bit exaggerated :p

but yea...if you're REALLY lucky..you can survive more than in other RPGs

this is the .44 Wand, the most powerful wand in the world, so did I fire 5 or 6 fireballs? Now you got to ask yourself one question pal, do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

As I said, the rules have probably changed. I seem to remember a version where you could THEORETICALLY survive anything. In practice it would probably involve throwing a six one-hundred times in a row or something equally impossible.
