Finally, after waiting YEARS for this freaking mod to release a playable version, beta 1 is actually COMING OUT TOMORROW!!! Dance and sing with me! Online multiplayer racing game with the half life engine! I DARE you to tell me you're not excited by the concept. Ohhh yeah baby. It'll be SWEET.

Could anyone who is interested in mirroring the imminent release of HL Rally, or is interested in hosting a HL Rally server, please contact me.

I've seen a few articles about it here and there for the past couple years, but never devoted much of my time into waiting for it. Buts since it's coming, it would be nice to have something to break up my recent Counterstrike and Frozen Throne monotony.

I know I'll be putting up a HLRally server.. of course, I don't have nearly as much cpu power at my disposal as LB does, so it'll take the place of my TS server for a couple days :(
Not that it matters, as no one here knows of or plays on my TS server.. as I don't really advertise it.. and if I did I wouldn't dare advertise it here as not to try to anger the Lunix gods.

Too bad there never was a "middle of release", or any kind of release to speak of. With how much they're delaying it, I wouldn't be surprised if they made up the hacker story to cover their asses.
With how things are going now, and how things have been going throughout the duration of the project, I think it would be best to assume that HLRally won't be released. That way, everyone who's been anticipating the release of this can mope about one big let-down instead of hundreds of little ones every twenty minutes.

Well the MP3 is down and now they've got brand new forums up. But, really new forums, so almost zero content. And no one of intelligence seems to be posting on there, just the same people that were sitting in #hlrally all day yesterday and discussing how cool it was to be 12 years old.

I just wanna see new model replacements of cars. I hope some NS modeler from the forums makes an onos replacement or someting. That would be awesome to see that in your rear view mirror.

It's a racing game, nubcaek! As in, go really fast and turn corners and try and be the first to get to the finish line. Yes, it's a half life mod with NO bunny hopping, NO guns, and NO kills. MADNESS I TELL YOU!!!

yeah i was about to mention that. That was a fun mod. I just loved how one of the bumpercars was a TSA marine riding an onos, and one of the maps looked like ns_eclipse.
and who could forget seeing Otis riding in a giant donut box... fun stuff.
back to the HLrally topic though... I'd absoloutely love it if someone would make the warthog from Halo for a vehicle... that would kick some ass quite mightily, sir.

Yeah.. HLBC was great.. I'm kinda disappointed that they have stopped development until HL2..
Oh well, Bumpercars plus havok physics isn't something to be too disappointed about :D

On another note, I tried it really quick. Either this mod is really stinking hard or I am retarded, because I couldn't drive 5 feet without randomly skidding out into a 180. <_< Perhaps I'm just not staying on the road well enough.

As for my server.. LB deleted my small advert and put up a LM server..
And as for controlling.. It depends.. I suggest setting it up so you can steer with the keyboard. Then, when you get the hang of that, try to mix in the mouse with it.. Because the mouse is generally better to drive with.
Also, don't forget to customize the car at the beginning of the race. I suggest starting with Preformance tires.
Also, to switch to auto transmission, do "rally_manual 0" in console
I find manual transmission is better, but auto of course would suit someone whos just beginning quite nicely..

Had just enough time to download and install it this morning, and that was it. Didn't even get to test out a track before I had to rush out to work. :(

I think the most amusing thing I've run into so far is the ingame MP3 player, designed just to look like a winamp skin.. Works quite nicely though, and also works with online radio.. Missing a couple authentic winamp features, such as the equalizer.. but oh well. Still looks cool. Also, comes loaded with a couple good songs/radio stations.
