Overly Chatty Penguins

I accidently happened across this last night in Garry's Mod, I was flipping through the weapons hitting secondary fire to check out the new menus in the latest version, and I accidently did this on the grenade, and lo, gordon pulled the pin and gentley rolled the nade about 4 feet away on the ground :o
I was shocked, I had always wanted a way in games to just drop a nade when retreating rather than flinging it hard as possible. Now here HL2 has this and I played through the entire thing without ever noticing this, I guess I was too accustomed to only one thing to do with nades.
So my question is, how many of you knew you could do this in HL2?
-
everyone
didnt you ever see the HL2 video where he does that?
:p
-
I'm sure I saw it, however I only watched them all once, not to mention there was that little thing with the 14 month delay to let you forget :p
-
It took me a little while to find out, not that I ever really found it that useful after I knew. I always found the HL2 grenades bounced too much and didn't have enough area damge to be usefull anywhere but a few rooms that the combine bunkered down in.
-
hmm, i never noticed that.. chucking nades long distances and into rooms always seemed to work best for me.. since thats what i did with em most of the time.
-
Same.
If they destroyed doors and stuff, that might be different.
-
Absolutely everyone knew this, as vinnie said.
:p
-
i found that out.. i want to throw a nade FARTHER over a wall so im like hmm maybe if i right click itll go far... bounces off the wall and blows me up.... hmph...
and youre not gordon in garrysmod... youre gman...
-
ABS theres also a sekrat combo move that lets him pull the pin and KICK it a good 400 yards :o
-
I found it rather spontaneously too, although a little earlier than you. It came in handy destroying those pop-up turrets, and also throwing nades around corners, because the thing always seemed to roll to the left.
-
If they really do roll to the left, then Valve were smart. If you're right-handed, something you throw will probably go to the left at least a little bit.
-
You use the 2nd fire to disarm those traps in the big town hall building.
-
I now realise it would have been very usefull to take those out :p Though I always managed to throw them in, probably only missed on 1 or 2 out of all of them.
-
Yeah I threw them in too, didn't think that the nade would go IN if I just dropped it like that.
I thought that every game had secondary fire just drops the nade on the ground? I mean, I thought that HL had it too, although I only remember the banana bombs added by svencoop ;).
