Title: Good Mice?
Post by: SaltzBad on March 18, 2004, 07:45:27 AM
Thinking of shopping for a new mouse today. Anyone got suggestions? Good logitech MX-something maybe? (Preferrably cheap, relatively light etc)

MS Intellimouse 5 button. Works like a charm, assign +use to mouse 4 and +duck to mouse5.

I too bow to the power of the MS Intellimouse 5 button. Mine has served me faithfully for a long time. However, I must reccomend the pwnage that comes by putting all your slot 1-3 binds on the mouse, a fire button, and a popupmenu button. People will be crying SCRIPTS when you fade in no time!

bah, I'm trained to just hold down attack and hit Q when it's time to bite/slash someone :) that's as fast as the mouse button way right?  I've used a 2 button mouse so long that my mouse hand doesn't even know it has more than 2 fingers...

Best Mouse out right now is the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 5.0, with that KICKASS side-to-side mousewheel. Comes in both Wired and Wireless flavors.

I personally have a MX500 though, wired(I didn't know the other existed...)

Logitech MX310 is my favourite. Haven't tried many mice, mostly because I'm so satisfied with this one that I haven't been looking.

Hm, trying out an MX300 now (very plain, but works more smoothly with my pads). Not sure I like the shape etc. but it just moves alot better over the pads I have available.

@Sat:
Damn, if I can find one of those I'll bring back my MX300 - used to have that exact model at home, and it beats the standard Intellimouse line by far (which is the mouse I was mildly frustrated with).

Damn straight it beats the standard intellimouse!

I love my IM explorer 3.0, although, I just looked at the 5.0, and all I have to say is HOLY *CRAP*!!!, niiiiice mouse! (if you have the money $30-40)

I've had my mouse for at least 2 years, works great

I like my generic brand 3-button optical with wheel kthx! I mean I can see the optical through the mouse when I use it, so then my hand glows.... its awesome :D. $9 hafafhafafeafaefafha. Hand one for about or year but I dropped it about 15 times so it decided to not work(in the exact same way as my friends MS intellimouse which he dropped almost every day) and my bro disliked his and gave it to me, which was the exact same mouse :D.

Laser mice are the best ones, because they are so smooth. i have one that has no ball, and no cord, just lasers, and its really good. Or one of those expensive ones with the fans in them, that fan your hands

I would suggest the Logitech MX 510 Gaming Mouse! I have a similiar mouse the MX 700, which is wireless. I have noticed some issues w/ it, like losing sync w/ the receiver mid match. I continue to use it though, if I didn't I wouldn't have any excuses for dying!

Right now I'm using the P.O.S. Dell Mouse I got with the computer. But I just ordered this (http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.process?RestartFlow=t&Section_Id=1&Product_Id=3964988) and it should be here very shortly.

I still have a fairly old wireless optical mouse, the Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical. I think that they dont even sell it anymore.

Just btw: It's not a laser mouse, it's optical. (normal light) :)

Excellent choice, sir.

Logitech anything is always an excellent choice.

However, if you want a high-end microsoft mouse um... free, simply find a pic of the mouse you want on the internet and send in a replacement request to microsoft along with the pic.  I haven't done this myself so I am unsure of the details, however my friend did it and his new uber-nifty mouse works just fine for him :p

Seeing as I'm all for low budget solutions, I'd need a bit more info on that Torque. This is the best I could find on that :
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;326246 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326246)

Ask your 'friend' what he did in precise steps, pretty please.

Alternatively, anyone that has recently bought a decent MS mouse could fax me their proof of purchase >)

Well Saltz, according to jon all he did was call the number on that page and asked what to do if he didn't have a proof of purchase.  They said photocopy the bottom of the mouse and mail a printout of that in.  You might want to call them to see if they still do that, however, as it has been six weeks since he got his mouse.

Sample pic:Decent $70 mouse =P (http://www.hardware-one.com/reviews/intellimouse/images/2mouseoptical1-big.jpg)

The "supplemental parts team" I believe.  You know, on the page you linked to in your previous post?
