Title: Natural-Selection 3.0 Final Release
Post by: rad4Christ on March 04, 2005, 05:09:30 AM
So, some official release... blah blah blah.... Reserve Slot Night blah... blah... blah... around the same time and blah... blah... blah... shoudl we have a RS only night of NS3.0 if released in time?

I will try to get a poll added, but in the meantime, should we have RS night still, but play NS 3.0 final and ONLY allow RS, or leave it open and let any regs or other pubbers in if space is available?

Oh, and BTW, I'm in the official announcement in the forums... http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index....0&#entry1402345 (http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89418&st=0&#entry1402345)

I say no.

The last time a beta was released the mirrors were totally screwed up meaning it took me a few hours just to get the damn server files. So planning RS night around B6 would suck.

Also there's little point in saying RS only cause like EVERY release you'll have a bit more then 16 people from LM wanting in... half or more being admins :p

Also, chances are high that metamod won't work anyway...

Jhunz and myself might not be around either!

We'll just have to see.

If timing allows I'd love to try for it, but I really have to agree with LB for the most part... There is no guarentee that the NS release will go anywhere smooth enough to risk ruining reg night over it.

RS night will be scheduled as described in the RS forum, however, if 3.0 interrupts, then, well, go hide by yourself on a listenserver, and have bots hunt you :p

Again no RS night for me. Bummer that all my overtime means I can't get to blast through NS with the regs.

Still, I can just play MGS3.

Well for me no RS night so no matter to me, unless someone wants to illegally sneak me over the border to the lm server.

Check back on http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns (http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns) in the files section every so often. Once they list the mirrors, you can go ahead and download.

Guess what. It's out - everyone's downloading!
I don't see why we can't have reg night today then with 3.0final. 16 slotters/admins will SURELY have it already, and the server might be updated in time - according to IRC, he is downloading it already.
/me waits

I think I'll just content myself with hitting refresh every 20 seconds while I stare at the changelog and weep a little bit.

Already we had the server full at 17/17 for a few games, and many of the regs/admins have already been on for short periods although they didn't end up playing more than a few games.  We should have no problem holding the res night on 3.0.

moofree - when the server is passworded, it'll typically be in the topic on IRC, just Join #lunixmonster to find out what the pass is...

But there will also probably be a lot of reserved slotters playing so he'll get kicked.

Insane. I joined at ~15 minutes, Aliens had 2 hives. We had sensories, 3rd hive was going up, 2nd hive had no chambers yet. They are making a major assault on the 3rd hive that's not up yet; everyone's there, defending. I went lerk, we had 1 onos, and a fade. Hive eventually went down, since some structure blocking occured and something happened... not sure what, but that something made us lose the 3rd hive, as I heard.
Later on, we lost the 2nd hive somehow, not sure. I went onos, and tried to defend our last hive.
We already has sensories and dcs at this point.
Redemption worked like a charm for me, and it saved me surely more than 20 times while I onosed. We saved the 1st hive from the first assault, but they just kept on coming. They had tonnes of res nodes, and I realized that the only way we could stop them from winning in by taking down their res nodes. That'ts exactly what I did for about 5 minutes. In the end, they were down to about 3 res nodes, same with us.
During all this, we put up about 10 hives in the other locations. They would never finish going up, but they served as an amazing distraction to the Marines who kept pressuring our first hive.
Eventually, after 60 minutes, about 8 onos, 15 hive attempts, and more redemptions by onos than I can count, the game ended with our last hive going down.
I just hope that this is how 3.0 will always be like! :)

Chances are, you will - and many times; these kind of battles are becoming increasingly more common. I love it.
Another 52 min game on hera, it's great.

We had this awesome 52 miniute game on hera.  I was on marines.  We hit a lot of hives, and held vent almost the entire game.(well, once we killed the hive in vent)  We had decent res most of the game; the aliens overpowered us in the end though.  I killed 2-3 onos and # of fades(there were a lot...)
