I was just driving on my way to get something to eat and this fire truck pulls up next to me at a red light. On the side, in big, silver, shiney letters it says:
SQUAD 5
All I could imagine was the picture of 'The Onion' where Bush deploys 'Very Special Forces' to Iraq. I wanted to lean out the window and yell "YOU'RE SQUAD 5!" I was cracking up for like 2 minutes.
God this city is wierd.

Big ass chrome letters... (The firetrucks here are wierd... they're white and yellow, not red. They look like hazardous waste disposal units)

Most firetrucks are yellow now actually. I don't know why though. They had switched back to red for a brief stint then decided it was not cool enough.

Fire Engines are painted different colors, Yellow Fire Engines are usually in places that have a denser population like California. But although New York has red fire engines so im really not sure where it came from.. probably something involving history.

a tibit of info... Studies have proven, that ugly neon-green color is more noticeable to your eye, and so they use it, and variations of it.
