IIRC, 420 is police code for "pot smoking in progress" or something of the like. Also, I think it was a tradition in California in the 70's to smoke pot on April 20th. Kinda like a pot smokers holiday. :p

420 is actually not police code for smoking Chronic, a H & S violation is smoking weed. It has to do with people up in humboltd going to smoke at around 4:20 and it has evolved ever since
