Doodlebug (http://www.desktopcreatures.com/doodlebug/)

on this site you make doodles with your mouse in a little screen and when you finish it will show you your doodle by following your cursor around while you draw it. you can save it to the site too and has a collection of quite a few good ones. you can find mine under the name 'ThoraX' (obviously). it will give you an example of how you can 'watch' the picture being drawn.

Watching that doodle get doodled gave me motion sickness, I think. Nice stuff, though. This isn't nearly as cool as oekaki boards. Am I the only one that has ever frequented those?

GRAHHSGAGDSGKajkbfadsjb!!
/me smashes head on keyboard
F*******
GRAHHH

I spend 20 minutes on a doodle, only to have the site go "Well f*** that" and not process it properly
GRAhhhhh...
MUST KILL STUFF >_<

It was fairly awesome too..

Oh well.. when the swelling in my hand goes down from 20 minutes of mouse drawing.. I'll try again..

It was side view of a marine and a fade.. yeah.. not very original... but I felt it was good considering I have no artistic talent..

oekaki boards are basically the same thing, but in java instead of flash.. and save to gifs, bmps or jpgs.. instead of swf files.. and don't give you motion sickness watching the things being drawn..

AND DON'T PROCESS FILES IMPROPERLY SO YOU LOSE OVER HALF AN HOUR OF PAINFUL WORK >_<

Edit: I finally see my error.. they are to cheap to just set up their program to slightly speed up the longer ones.. Anything that takes more than about five minutes doesn't gets teh boot..
Meh. I'm not going to bother with this.. I can't make anything in 5 minutes.. Not anything I'd bother posting. My hand doesn't do "flying across the screen at a couple hundred miles per hour drawing stuff with the mouse" action.. I'm too twitchy for that

I should probably look into an oekaki board...

Oh joy, I finally got something to fit the timelimit that isn't ugly.. Well, no.. but its me complaining about stuff, which is always a positive point in my mind..
Huzzah (http://www.desktopcreatures.com/doodlebug/player.asp?id=6792&thumbnail=1)
Also.. Some one had to do it.. I think its best that it was me.. (http://www.desktopcreatures.com/doodlebug/player.asp?id=6811)

Now to go soak my wrist in ice water.. How is it that one doodle caused me more pain than 20 hours of NS has ever done to me..? (of course, that was when I could stand playing 20 hours of NS.. in 1.04.. Thats about.. you know.. 5.. 6 games  :p )

I am once again reminded of my absolute lack of artistic talent. My drawing has basically not improved since kindergarten. I'll stay away from this, I know funnier ways to embarrass myself...

Halo2 armour? Is it any different from the Halo armour, except being more detailed?

well, in the novels, it's the latest version of the Mjolnir armor and it's better in some way (don't remember). Not sure if it will be any different in Halo 2

Oekaki boards are similar, but light years ahead of these in the tools you can use. And on that program you'll never see anyone making pictures of this quality:
http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/424.jpg (http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/424.jpg)
http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/405.jpg (http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/405.jpg)
http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/342.jpg (http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/342.jpg)
http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/263.jpg (http://www.oekakicentral.com/mainhall/pictures/263.jpg)
(copy + paste ftw)
I frequented a few oekaki boards back in the day, but I think I've lost all the copies of stuff that I did. Although you know, if we could coax LB into hosting an oekaki board... The software is out there. We could probably plug it in as a link off of the main board. Would there be any interest?

Edited for copy and pasteability. Silly anti-hotlinking mokeys.

Your linking fu is weak. Always check if the links work before posting. :)

Aye, Bob. There would be.

Keep in mind that I have no drawing ability at all and have never taken any lessons on anything related to art (except for technical drawing and architecture, but those focus on the actual design of things more than the drawing of them)
So, first time on doodlebug and I try to draw a grim reaper, then I felt he was missing something, so I made him yell "YARR!!" and then I piratified (http://www.desktopcreatures.com/doodlebug/player.asp?id=7468) him ^_^

Erm. Actually they all work fine for me. What are you getting when clicking? 404s? Do they work if copied and pasted perhaps? I double checked them before posting too. I've been hax3d.

It links you directly to this 300x300 jpg: http://www.unixdaemons.com/loser.jpg (http://www.unixdaemons.com/loser.jpg)

That's there so that people don't abooze hot linking

P.S. Copy+Paste FTW :D

OK fixed. Anyway, would anyone else like the idea of an oekaki board? The software is pretty smart for a java applet. Includes multiple layers and several cute effects. Definitely a lot better than your average web based paint programs. Then you get to chat and post lots of fascinating things about how much that person's picture sucked.

And what's the drawing and coloring interface like? How do you draw?

What's a Mokey?
Title: Doodlebug
Post by: BobTheJanitor on July 25, 2004, 09:59:54 PM
Would you believe it was a colloquial spelling of moky (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=moky)? Or possibly take the urbandictionary.com definition (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mokey&r=f)?

(in theory it may have been a misspelling that I failed to catch... but since such things never happen, it's best if you just forget all about it, yes? Here's a picture of a ninja while I perform the mind wipe   )

Fuzzy I like on the hell march one how you get bored of the trees and swap back to other parts of the picture now and again  :D  that would be me. Never had the patience to be any good at art.....
