LMG-  Hammer the skulk as it ocmes, then hop to one side and continue.

Pistol- AIM! small clip means that you must! (only four or five to kill a skulk....means anywhere between two and three if you hit with most of them.  Three is rare, requires lmg hax....)

Knife- Don't really have a strategy, I just try and wait for good hits......occasionally i go all berserker style and hold down the button....but that almost never works.

HMG- see lmg

GL-  ACtually, I think ff is an abuse for this gun.  with it, you can stand behind a group of heavies shooting a fade or an onos, and then put ONE grenade into them and voila! the skulks climbing all over their faceplates are now goo! [size=8](use with caution- may result in unforeseen casualties when applied by nubs)[/size]

Ok, got some more questions


I was compiling my map  (a cube with a player start and a light), and it gabve me the following errors-

vis.exe has encountered a problem blah blah standard windows message.

qrad.exe has encountered a problem blah blah standard windows message.

next,

Could not open bitmap file gfx/shell/splash.bmp

Host_init: Could not load gfx/pallete.lmp

Help, what do these mean?

So.  I jsut got the map creator thingy for half life, and managed to make a box.  

Yes,  so very shocking.   I made a box.

But i ahve some questions.  I've been playing around with things for a while now, and i still can't figure out how to make textures stick to things. (i followed the direcitons, but they(my boxes) are nonstick or something).  So. Here's my list of questions, and if i can make myself do the work, I MIGHT make a map for you all......



1).  Textures
a.  How to place them on objects
b.How to place them on ONE side only

2).  Entities
a. What are they
b. What do they do?

3).  Chopping
a.  Again, what is it?
b.  What does it do?

4).  Paths
a.  Again, what are they?
b.  What does it do?


Any help you could give me would be appreciated.   Also, any hlep you oculd give me pertaining to tricks of teh mappar's trade would be nice too.

FYI-   Heres my idea for a map-

Aliens have alnded on a colonized civilian planet, and taken up residence ina local high school.  Marines would start in one of the entrances, alien hives'd be in the Main staircase, Cafeteria, and Pool.  

More to come, after i actually make something resembling a map.

The dual-base strat is a good one.  Helps on maps where you want to hold the territory and the res.

But you forgot one bill.

IP RUSH!

1).  Build cc outside hive

2). Carpet floor with all the ip's you can get your hands on
(this servers 2 purposes-
1, aliens are afraid to enter the room beacuse the randomly spawning rines play a kind of jack-in-the-box where if you get hit you die, and
2, it means the aliens have an unholy time taking out the ip's.

3).  Rush the hive with whatever you have yuor hands on.

I'm not precisely sure, but i beleive this may have worked ONCE. a VERY long time ago

Universal Fade Counter On Any Map-

First, lock down ALL the res you can get, do NOT worry about upgrades at first- if you spend the 45 res for an arms lab and an up, you just wasted 3 res towers.  Think of that.  

Next, Split the team into squads of two.  Buddy system, you know, the thing your parents made you do with your friends so you didnt wander off alone.  One builds, the other covers.  Easy.  

Third, MOVE FAST!  NEVER let the aliens keep you on defense- if they do, your DEAD.  END OF SENTENCE!



Admittedly, this strat is either hit or miss- you win spectacularly, or you die in the most horrible manner possible.  It may work once, but PLEASE dont try it two times in a row-IT will fail, as the aliens will be ewatching for it.

PS- This strat is MINE! If i catch you using it i may be forced to throw wet ramen noodles at you!  PHEAR!
