Welp, the right side of my uber crappy stolen headphones finally quit working on me. So I need some suggestions as to what would be a good new set.
It needs a mic and I'd prefer to have those big cups over my ears that block out all other sound quite well.

I have the labtec axis-502. Not great but most people tell me they can always understand me in game, as long as I haven't left the mic unplugged or swung it up in the air and forgotten about it. They're pretty cheap, and no nice ear cuppies, but they work pretty well. I can hear most sounds long before the enemy gets near, and I get pretty decent bass out of them as well. That is about the limit of my experience with headphones.

I can support Uranium there. I'm using that same headset, it's been working quite nice for me. The earcups do not completely cover your ears. Enough to block out normal talking, not enough to block shouting.

I'm using a logitech headset
I think it was like "Stero Headset with Mic" or something, no model number on it
Its your standard headset, and works nicely
I've learned to tune out all the sound around me, so I don't hear it anyway
Only problem is only the end of the mic is adjustable
If you can find it the Axis-502 is a lot better

Only 20 bucks you say? Interesting. I wish I could find a store that would let you TRY OUT headphones before you buy them. There's just so many factors to consider. Comfort for something that might be squishing your ears for five hours at a stretch, sound quality, voice record quality, adjustability, length of the mic stick, length of the cord, volume control on cord, etc. etc. etc. A LOT goes into this one little piece of plastic, and it's a pain to get one that looks really nice only to find out it's not quite wide enough to rest comfortably on your melon-like head.

Yes! I use this one too. Its great, but it feels like you're wearing earmuffs. The phones pivot to the position of your ears so you don't get that awkward pain when you take them off after a long game, however the connection between the phones and the actual headset seems a bit cheap and it feels like it doesn't take much for it to just fall off.
The cord doesn't twist! Had a problem with that with my old one...had to keep pulling it apart (futiley) to get some more slack. the most vulnerable spots where the wires are bound to break are protected somewhat by a flexible plastic that gives slightly so chances of the wire being cut from use. The 'remote' is simple and sleek with volume control and mute. It also comes with a small clip which to can attach anywhere on the wire, and clip it on your shirt or whatnot.
Between the 'remote' are two wires: a long one from the remote to the mic and phone connection, and a smaller cord from the 'remote' to the actual headset. The wires are quite long, and you probably won't be using all of it unless you plan to be moving around. The split between the mic plug and the sound plug is quite long when compared to other headsets.
The Mic sounds clear (though not the clearest i've heard ever), and does not pick up small background noises. It can be set straight up or as low as slightly below your lips. The arm hold the mic itself is very flexible, but sturdy when it needs to hold the mic in place.
The size is, of course, adjustable. What surprised me was a rubber lining across the top of the headset. Your head never really touches the top of the headset, instead the rubber strip contorts to your head. Feels awkward at first, but confortable when you're not thinking about it.
Some bad things are that if your ears get really hot during gaming, the pads around the ears can get hot (although it hasn't been a problem for me), but are confortable if you don't have this problem. the wire connecting the jacks and the earphones themselves are tucked somewhat safely in, but in reality is exposed and a small accident could land you with a dead headset. Again, it looks and feels like you're wearing earmuffs: you could take on a canadian winter with that thing.

I'm using a pair of Altec-Lansing AHS-502s. Plantronics stuff looks too dinky and weak for the abuse that my headsets take. (Dropping, yanking on the cord, stepping on them, etc...)

Yes, Uranium's statement was rather confusing. Allow me to translate into normal Uraniumtalk:
If you're gonna get a headset, you better stick with the Plantronics model 90. All the other headsets I've tried were cheap pos that were either uncomfortable or just downright crappy stuff that broke apart at the slightest touch.

Until I needed a headset, I was using some black Philips headphones. Most comfortable I've ever worn, good bass.
