Title: Half-life2.com Is Live
Post by: admojostrator on May 12, 2004, 09:07:02 AM
Check it out and download the REALLY cool Windows Media Player Skin. There is also a short trailer w/ nothing that anyone who has been following HL2 since last year hasn't seen. Being the offical site means one thing...Progress! At least, one could only hope! This site also provides a little info regarding Codeman Gordon, a sidescolling game that will be available short for all steam users. Check it out! You can also tune into Halflife Radio for more information on the release of the HL2 SDK.

And the latest buzz is that HL2 will be out "by this summer". First one to get giddy is a gullible man/woman/space alien.

Im extatic about HL2, but ive been dissapointed time and time again. The date keeps getting pushed back. They say its because someone keeps leaking the source but I think valve is just plain lazy.

Either way HL2 is gonna be an amazing game. What makes me extra excited is the possibility of CS2 and dare i say................NS2!?!?!?!

NS2 = commercial project = not an HL2 mod. May use the hl2 source engine, if flay wants to spend umpteen million dollars to buy it, but it won't be a mod if he wants to make money off of it.

Nothing to do with CS? Are you sure, LB? :D

Yeah, the site looks pretty nice, I must say. I was hoping that the concept art would be high-res, but alas, it is not. :(

I'm very anxious about HL2, and to me it seems the site went up early enough to get the word around right before E3. Hopefully they will load up the site with more stunning videos like they did during the last E3.

And as for VALVe's constant delays, all I can say is... at least they are consistent. (TFC2 anyone?  :p)

Yeah, I'm excited about it, I'd love to play it. I think that the new engine is going to be far more interesting considering the heightened interactivity of dynamic clipping planes.  That's my main anticipation, interactivity. I want to shoot a wooden 2x4 and have it splinter apart as it's load comes crashing down.

Glad I have 2 free copies of HL2 when it's released ^_^

I may be wrong and I hope I am!? I think the version of HL2 that the ATI coupons will get you, is most likely be the non-mod-single-player-only-version. Be very cautious when buying your copy of HL2! There are suppose to be 4 different release versions available. The non-mod-single-player-only-version, the steam version (which may be the same as the non-mod-single-player-only-version) the full version which will support mods and the SPECIAL Edition! Woooo

I think its best if we wait and see exactly what different versions of the game will be released. You'd have to be stupid to not want to get the mod-playable version, so I doubt they'd make something that would sell less. Unless, of course, its much cheaper than a mod-playable version.

Yeah a version that couldn't play mods, would be kinda pointless. Well not really, but still...

making a version that cant play mods is bs .. its not like theyre making the mods, other people/teams are and they want you to pay more for a mod playable version ? thats just really really greedy  ;)
