I'll donate a athlon 1100 and motherboard to the cause if it means we can have a dedicated 14-20 person CS server :D

ya but the server sit's empty for most of the day, i gotta con my friend "freekazoid" into playing 1vs1 just to try and get some people to join up
then we spend the rest of the time going 2vs1 or 2vs2 and it stinks
i'd agree keep its PW but you guys gotta play more, or open it up so those of us who like to play cs can have a good server to play on

Well if the PW is taken down, then LB has to go and put all the anti-cheat programs on, and we also have to have people who can admin very frequently. Those anti-cheat proggies use a lot of resources, and VAC prevents on of our admins from playing mainly because of RAM errors.

what did you say? an admin job opening? i'm not the one to point the finger but i easily log the most hours on the cs server.
with me admin you dont need anticheat, i've admin'ed cs servers since 1.0 (dunno if anyone played there but "angryrednecks shooting gallery" )

Olo, I played cs before 1.0 and I still cant find all the hax, besides that takes up precious time, and we would still need something like Cheating-Death, because spiked fools isnt easy to tell from spectatin but every anti-cheat proggie catches it.

I know several guys who would come play on the server, but the limit of 5v5 kinda makes it hard to get in.. I'll donate parts for a new server? :D

I think the server size is fine, maybe 2 more slots, but that would be the maximum. Also, I like the server as it is now, that means: Passworded. If you need players, you can always join the #lunixmonster IRC channel, there are always some people around who want to play.

Personally, i'd rather see a passworded and vacant server rather than an open server full of nubs and hackers.
The reason it's passworded, i feel, is so we can all play CS against people we know in a friendly atmosphere. CS on pubs isn't fun, and i'd hate to see PD become one of those pubs.

Negative on making it a pub. Unless it magically went totally vacant in the last 24 hours, it's been fine for me. For a brief time yesterday it was just me and Radeon on, (I'm still recovering from the wounds) but it filled up again in short order. The problem I'm seeing has been not enough slots. Without working reserved slots, if it's full, it's just full. I can't even use my admin hax to get in! So upping it to maybe 16 like LM would be nice. Of course this is all theoretical for me, as I probably won't be able to play for weeks... sigh.

well maybe i'm alone when i derive pleasure from awping "haxors" in the face then taunting them relentlessly untill they disconnect >:D
as for nubs, we could always use them, not only for cannon fodder or if your mean, stealth ninja kills
i remember this one guy he was camping in a room (i think it was aztec he was in that doulbe door room next to the bombsite) i threw a flashbang in rush'ed in and hid in the corner next to him, waited long enough for the flash to wear off then i jumped him and headshot him with my knife. poor sucker didnt even know i was in the same room with him... :ph34r:
and if you complain about it being full of nubs and haxors how is that different from NS on LM?

CS is just notorious for attracting the dregs of the gaming world. Not that all CS players are bad, obviously. I think it's just the fact that a lot of PEOPLE are bad, and a lot of people play CS, so you get a higher number of idiots. I mean, there are, what, like 2000 unique NS players in the world? Something like that? I haven't seen the numbers lately. And there are about 50,000 unique CS players. So if ten percent of NS players are worthless smacktards, that's only 200 people. If ten percent of CS players are worthless smacktards, that's 5,000 people. More than everyone who even plays NS. Thus, the problem of more idiots on CS pubs than elsewhere.
Maybe that's not the reason at all, but it sounded good. And honestly, I don't want to spend all day explaing to people that we REALLY DON'T allow swearing on our server, that map exploiting REALLY IS bannable, that we enforce RESPECT for other players (there's half the CS community banned right off the bat) and god... I spend enough time in NS watching suspected hackers. In CS it's practically a way of life to hack.

i doubt that lb will increase the number of slots on the cs server, regardless of parts. Maybe, and this is a slim maybe, if people complain how its full all the time and they can't get on, then there is a slim chance that he might increase the slots, but the fact is its not full all the time.
Donate that motherboard to Bob. I hear he has mb probs :/
