I much prefer the strat that i saw employed on LM today by none other than your favorite and mine, NSPlayer.
Obviously a NS veteran, he walks into Biodome casually (which happened to be aliens starting hive) at about 5:00 into the game. He sees this curious looking thing on the ground, pink and kinda moving funny. Over voicecomm, as im setting up a PG in furnace i hear "whats this egg looking thing on the ground in this room with all the plants?" 5 people respond with "an egg, shoot it NOW!!!!!111ONE" so of course, NSPlayer doesnt shoot it and instead, responds over voicecomm with "what does an egg do and why should i shoot it? is it gonna blow up?"....silence.....then, mysteriously, 5 seconds later, NSPlayer dies to a fade. Next thing was this: "what the hell was that thing that came out of the egg?!?! it killed me before i could even shoot it!"...silence...then someone, forget who    , says "we told you to shoot the egg, man."
2 seconds later:
**NSPlayer has left the game.
now THAT is a killer strategy right there folks!!!!!!!!

id like to get a tattoo, have a design for it, but never really have had the time or motivation to actually go get it done. It's fairly simple for a design, a 4 leaf clover and under it on parchment-ish banner "illegitimi non carborundum", which means "dont let the bastards grind you down" in latin.

 :huh:   uhm...  i just mean....  the bionic eye thingie is something like the "star wars kid" of technology.   some months ago you have seen it everywhere...  some weeks later everybody was like....awww...bionic eye..  not again.. uhm..  but how well does this one work now?  the old eye they tested gave you just the view of an 8x8 pixel black and white rasterized image...  you cant really talk about seeing..its more like.. movement recognition... barely barrier recognition ...  you could cognize if it is dark, or bright...  the eye wasnt that spectacular... and

you'd be singing a much different tune if you were blind and this was something that would allow you to see ANYTHING. doesnt matter if its the difference between light and dark. It simply means they can see SOMETHING, which is a vast improvement over the absolute zero theyre getting without it. Take a second to think about how good all of us people with normal senses have it.

a several year long ban on LB would probably be a baaaaaad april fools joke. but anyway, i'll admit i was patrially convinced, but still skeptical based on certain things, such as the OMFG I R H4X post. However, i have seen people flip out similarly, so i didnt quite know. Was gonna wait for one of the admins to say something before i decided anyway.

see, as was stated in the original post, this is obviously someone who has no clear concept of their political views. this person is one of the flock, a sheep, cattle in the herd, following blindly what the media feeds them. I have no respect for this kind of person. I'm a republican, but not necessarily hard conservative. I have my own formed and educated politcal views. I hate conservatives as much as I hate liberals. Why? because 99.9999999999999999999999% of them dont know their ass from a hole in the ground where things like politics, policy, economics, foreign relations and diplomacy are concerned. Liberals watch CNN, conservatives watch FOXNews, and that vast, uninformed majority that i just mentioned, get their opinions direct from those channels on the idiot box.

Ive kept quiet with a few things i thought would have been obvious by now. But im gonna say em. Might sound insulting to certain parties, but seriously. Keep in mind, that although I suck, I have been playing HL mods since 1999 (Hobbit, the creator of cs_office used to live down the hall from me and introduced me to cs before it went public beta) and ive been playing NS since the EARLY days of 1.04. I've also been admin on many many servers and even joined the ranks of CAL admins once upon a time (before i realized that most of them were full of crap teenage wastes of life).
1.) If you take A MONTH to spec someone enough to figure out theyre hacking, then chances are, theyre not. No admin who has "seen enough of em" to know someone's hacking would take a month. And if that is indeed the case, i'd expect to see close to a GB or more worth of demos collected as evidence. If you spec for a month and show one demo as proof, sorry bub, that doesnt cut the mustard.
2.) WALLHACKS ARE INTEGRATED INTO NS! MT and SC anyone?
3.) Rines can be heard even when walking. This is a fact. Due to the set speeds at which rines strafe and turn, footsteps are still intermittent.
4.) The oldest trick in the book (which doesnt get caught by mp_consistency) is to delete the sound files for alien footsteps! This way, you can hear anything anytime without being impeded by the sound of your own motion. It's a very simple process, and i know plenty of clanners who do it and CAL doesnt care!
5.) If he does have wallhax, how would that really effect gameplay considering point #2 that i made? So he can see rines without sens or aliens without mt, sure its an advantage (albeit slight as both teams are likely to get those traits anyway), but hes not immortal, and sure as hell didnt have an aimbot.
6.) Plenty of other things make noise, such as reloads, comms, etc. People also check common hiding spots. I cant tell you how many times ive been a skulk hiding in an obscure ass dark corner and a rine whips around a corner and blasts me...because the spot was obscure to me, not to him.
7.) Last, but not least, he killed an NSPlayer. Someone who hasnt played for long enough to be able to change his name (i was teaching my bro how to play under a different name when HD got banned...i saw the final scores, that NSPlayer was indeed new to NS). What does that tell you?

There was once a time when I thought that certain people on the server used hax. So i spec'd, demo'd and watched the demos in slow motion. I found no evidence. HD was one of those people. And let me clue you in on something that anyone who uses hax will tell you: THEY WATCH THE SCORES! If they see someone in spec, theyre not going to make any moves to make the hax apparent unless theyre pub hopping and dont care anyway. People arent stupid. HD wasnt here for pub hopping. He was a part of the community.
And his comments both here and in IRC? I'D DO THE SAME DAMN THING! Wouldnt you? If you were a regular, a RSer and an Admin to boot, and someone accuses you of hax and then bans you from the forums, irc and the server without giving you a chance to back yourself up? I'd be REALLY ****IN PISSED OFF. So it's completely understandable that he blew up in your faces and told you what you wanted to hear out of sarcastic rage. He was never given his chance. Sentence was passed without appeal before the evidence even came to light.
Before you ostracize someone, make sure you got the facts. Give people a chance to defend themselves. Quit jumping to conclusions and telling someone you hate their ****ing guts and then turn around and say "wait, was it a joke?" Admins are frequently wrong about hax, especially in situations where people are extremely skilled and they surpass the admin's own abilities. Its the "he can do something i cant do, so he must be cheating" syndrome. Maybe this should be re-evaluated by people who arent so quick to judge. Sorry if i offended anyone, that was not the intent, however, it seems that many many people are missing the obvious here.

It is kind of lame to quit just because something went wrong. I remember the On|e server having a ban for quitting on a loss or something.

thats absolutely right. if we were fast enough to catch you doing that crap, you got a temp ban. it may be harsh, but people get the picture. regulars and admins dont like being banned...at all. so when you've got people in the upper ranks who are lame quitting instead of playing it out, its a strong deterrant. i leave and come back very frequently, but i always do it after the round is over and everyones in the rr. otherwise, i fight to the bitter end, cause thats half the fun. i mean seriously, yesterday the rines were being endgame slaughtered as usual and i spawned in and knifed a fade. wouldnt have caught that kill if i quit. and besides, if you're losing, take solace in the fact that you get another chance in a very few minutes, so just go with it, you might end up having fun doing something like going parasite vs knife with a skulk

i wouldnt doubt it, but from all that ive heard of them (ive talked to a bunch of other server owners and admins), the actions they display are pretty much the same as what i saw. i wouldnt hesitate to give them another chance, but it would be with wary eye that i did so.

ill give my two cents. a bunch of the folks who are regs on LM used to play on the On|E server back when it existed. most of these people know i'm the guy that was responsible for banning the whole .txt crew from the server. I had my reasons for doing it and will explain.
Most people who have seen the .txt guys play think that i might have banned for skill or hax. Wrong.
I banned them all for violating server rules and being general asshats on the server.
The main rules for the server were simple: No res whoring unless you had permission from your team to do so. If you're rines and the commander gives orders, try and follow them. No F4ing. No spawncamping for either side.
-teppla and the boys liked to come in and join up, then F4 to orchestrate a .txt teamstack. not allowed.
-any orders that the comm gave were ignored as they ramboed just to boost their scores, which they openly admitted to.
-on aliens they res whored for fade or onos regardless of what the team needed or was asking for.
-they seemed to LOVE spawncamping for 10-15 mins at a time instead of just ending the game.
-they didnt speak to anyone (except each other via teamspeak) during gameplay and when an admin broached them about violating the server rules, a beliggerant response was recieved.
Result=BANT.
Now i KNOW that those things would have earned a ban on LM, just as they did on our server. I wasnt gonna stand for blatantly breaking the rules and disrespecting the admins. I, for one, wont ban for skill, and wont ban for hax unless i get solid proof thats backed by several other people. As far as people like Civ and HD whoring for fade on a regular basis, I dont mind. Anyone who is a regular knows that its probably gonna happen, and most of the time, before HD goes fade, he asks if we'd rather have a hive dropped or need anything. Teamplay is a big issue in NS, especially since 3.0F came out. If you're doing something, benefit the team with it. Dont just play rambo because you think you can. That just makes people mad. Help the team.

i have really bad luck with spiders, so i should be afraid of them, but im not. been bitten by a blackwidow twice (no, they dont really kill you, you just get woozy) and bitten by a brown recluse on the shoulder and had a big chunk of my shoulder skin turn black and flake off (grew back of course, just nasty to watch). but i like spiders. they eat mosquitos. and i hate ****ing mosquitos.
