Hmm, Nexon eh? That tells me two things. It will be a Pay2Play, as all Nexon games are. (Anarki, SG is an exception, and it was P2P for a few years) It also tells me that while it may be a very good game, it will lack support and updates when it is brought over becuase NexonUSA are a bunch of lazy... yeah. Ah well, maybe this one will be different  v_v

okies, here's what I know from like years ago up to the present; Talesweaver started beta towards the end of the RO alphas.  It promises the same action as RO but combat is supposedly far superior as it involves combos and stuff =o

Generally a lot of people skipped over to the korean Talesweaver beta and refused to come back to RO so it must be pretty good ^^

As for Nexon they've got some amazing MMO games lined up that aren't shown on the english site just now; mabinogi and maple story.

Mabinogi is simply awe-inspiring.  Not only does it have NPCs that actually remember you and react to you (changing their prices if they like or hate you, you can even get some romance going) but you can do just about anything you want from being a musician to starting up your own line of clothes to building houses to being teh leet ubar adventurer.  The dungeons look interesting with puzzles and snazzy bosses and though I don't know much about the fighting system the combat itself looks promising =o
Another feature worth mentioning is that your 'life' effects the characters appearance... so if you don't eat much you'll probably be quite short and skinny... if you hunt at night a lot you'll be pale or if you're often in the sun you'll turn quite dark; even constant fighting will give you a more rugged/scarred appearance =D

Maple Story on the other hand is simplicity incarnate; a 2D platformer MMORPG.  That's right, it's like super metroid or bionic commando MMO but in a fantasy world =o

Maybe I should have said, Nexon Korea comes out with some awesome games, and the support and updates content-wise is staggering. If Mabinogi is anything like you describe, it will probably be truely amazing. My main problem lies with NexonUSA, who's support for their games is horrid and their updates few and far between. For that reason, whenever I see a potentially awesome game on the rise from Nexon, I usually don't give it too much thought.

This "Maple Story" sounds quite engaging too!

I'll have to keep an eye on this mother...

if you feel like tackling some japanese or korean (can't be bothered working out which just now) you can check out...

mabinogi's home site (http://www.mabinogi.com/)

and...

Maple Story's site (http://www.maplestory.com/)

to make things even more interesting I just found from another site that "In Korea, Nexon's Mabinogi let users create contents(music) within the service." o.O
So it appears the whole musician side of things is even more complete than I expected lol.
Oh, if you look at the mabinogi site there's a video on the front page somewhere, big linky thing saying 'openbeta video' or something similar in english.  Doesn't show everything it could but you get to see a boss fight, some sort of clan battle in town, a dungeon, some of the characters playing music, fireworks, characters in various stages of growth (you start as a kid... your childhood effects your char's final appearance a lot) and one or two other things =3
The cell shading in it is rather nifty though!

just for the heck of it, though they're not too impressive... mabinogi screenies!!! (http://www.4gamer.net/shots/mabinogi/mabinogi1.html)
One thing to note is that all the chars are totally different too; no clones in those piccies ^^

edit: to save you guys digging for the mabinogi video here's a direct link for downloading: waii! (http://mms://vod.nexon.co.kr/mabinogi/mabi_openbeta_promotion_300k.wmv)

and here's the Maple Story Screenie gallery: waii! (http://www.maplestory.com/gallery/screenshot.aspx)

talesweaver is already pay to play.  A free trial is available, except for a level 16 restriction, you're free to do pretty much anything.
