Aye, tis kids. Pesky critters.

Next time you hear the doorbell, open the door madly and stare at anything on the other side. If you see kids running away very quickly, problem solved. If not, repeat this process.

Off Topic / The Crowbar
« on: October 24, 2004, 03:54:38 PM »
Well, the reason that the shovel from DoD and the knife from CS and such aren't on tee-shirts and such is because they're all mods for Half-Life, thus they are still half-life. Also, The crowbar represents HL and everything about it. You can talk about NS and still be talking about HL, so having a crowbar is sort of 'all-encompassing'.

As for what a crowbar means to me? Perhaps big wooden crates, but besides that, nothing. Now if the crowbar is red and has silver tips, that's a different story :p .

I think that most of those dirty looks that you get are because they think it represents crime and burglary. Perhaps you should try to greet those people and show you that you're not going to try to mug them, ok? ^_^

I had the second to top drill, engine, and fuel tank and I was able to drill down to 3-4 thousand feet before using up half of my fuel. Just drill in a straight line, using dynomite if you hit any rocks or anything.

Or just not play it anymore :p

Edit: A radiator reduces the damage of lava and natural gas pockets. That's why you're dying. With a better radiator, you'll survive the blasts.

Hmm... I had the $100,000 and a gas pocket just took me to very low hull integrity. With the top hull, it takes 2 gas pockets to die. One takes you down to just below half. But when you are that far into the game, you generally have a bunch of items anyways, like hull repair nanobots.

hahaha, a 'surprise'. Yeah, a surprise that almost killed me! lol

As for the random exploding dirt, it's a pocket of natural gas. Geez bob, don't you ever read the transmissions? :p

[...]the shotgun's extra weight makes maneuvering more hard than it is with an LMG.

Weapons don't affect movement... do they?
I thought it was just an HMG that slows you down, which really it doesn't, you just hear your steps which are farther apart and you're taller and such. So it gives the illusion that you're slower. Kinda like the onos, people think that they're slow as an onos. Not true. You're just higher up, so it looks like you're not moving as fast. Onii are actaully quite fast.

A higher learning curve for the shotgun? Not in my opinion... more like it forces you to time your shot, as opposed to spam fire and hope you clip something.

Precisely my point.

n00b: BANG BANG BANG Y U NOT DIE?!1??1

not-a-n00b: steeeady.. steeeeeaaaddyy NOW! BANG! *[span style=\'color:blue\']not-a-n00b killed n00b2 with shotgun*[/span]

unfortunately, the current shotgun is a bit easier to use for the average newbie because of it's rate of fire. Slowing the fire rate would take that edge away from the newbies who spam shots, hence a higher learning curve.

I like the idea of a slower firing SG, although decreasing the rate of fire would seriously increase the learning curve for the shotgun

I also really like the idea of carapace being an early counter to shotguns. Carapace as low lifeforms seems somewhat useless as is right now.

And yeah, I also forget to look at the page source. Mostly because it rarely yields any useful results. I suck at reading other people's code. v_v

Don't need to look through all the code, or even read it for that matter. All you have to do is run a search for ".mov" or ".swf" or ".avi" or whatever and you'll find it very quickly.

How do I get this thing saved on my computer though? Rummaging through the cache files doesn't seem to help.

Pshh, who needs cache files when you can view the page source and find the original video?

I've seen a television documentary on the MIT team. Apparently, they got away with doing their stuff and earned something like $10M and then they started to get IDed in casinos and any casino they went to, they were asked to leave.
