The picture size is too big.  It wont post it.  Is there any way to make the pic smaller?

Save it as a jpg
open it up in Paint, save as...jpg, it'll be much smaller, with just a little loss in quality.

I have never been able to notice any loss of quality when converting a bitmap to jpeg.

it gets a tad blurry, doesn't harm too much, but if you say take a screenshot of your whole desktop and you save it as a JPG, then you can't read the fonts(well at 1600x1200 at least)

I just tried that. In 1600x1200. The picture is now a mere 109kb in size, and I still notice no difference. Time to cast "reparo" on your glasses, DHP. :p

Very well you can read the fonts(my memory must have screwed me there) BUT! look at this! (top is bmp, button is JPG, then pasted into the same picture and saved as a bmp)

meh i can't upload BMP's, but you just try what i did LF.

take a screenie, then save that image as BMP and then JPG. you'll notice a difference.

yep, big difference between bmp and jpg quality when you're using paint. Make a 300x100 turquoise image and put some black text on there, save it as a jpeg and reopen it, it will have distortions in the color around the text, zoom in closer to see it better.

NOTE: Photoshop is an exception. When you export an image as a jpeg in photoshop, you can select a quality, 1-12 12=best. Pretty much anything above 6 or 7 is going to be identical to the original image (no distortion or "blurryness") although it will be a larger file. You can export it as a quality 1 and it will look like you saved it from MS Paint (total crap) but at least it will be a small file... Not to mention that Photoshop can utilize anti-aliasing on almost every feature including text.

Nice double post :p

I once had a HD that one day got reeeealy reeealy slow, took forever to do anything, even after defrag, etc. Then it just stopped working. Bios didn't even detect a device on the IDE bus. It kept trying to boot from CD etc. *sigh* that was when I figured it was time to get a new HDD

Edit: Kodiak, see my post in this (http://www.lunixmonster.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=41&st=100&#entry23028) thread

Kodiac, let me guess: You took up mapping, and stored your only copy of the source code on that disk? C'mon, admit it.
