Being playing on it for 6 months on PS2 and still quite a while off completing (about halfway through the 3rd city). Theres tons of missions and minigames, but i spend the majority of my time just exploring around, killing random people and joyriding.

The most anoying thing when you first start playing is having low skill levels with everything and no access to most of the shops until certain missions have been completed.

If you havent got access to the ammunation shops yet, you will find a Micro-SMG and Armour just east of you starting house (under the bridges in the concrete channel). Theres also a pistol behind the house in the north-east corner of your street. I found these collectables very useful for missions where you invariably end up having to kill people.

Fun things to try:

Car surfing. Stand ontop of an occupied vehicle and fire a weapon, then try and stay on for as long as possible as the paniced driver tries to get away!  If you dont have a weapon you can just stamp on it with your feet (using attack). Keep stamping and the car blows up :D

Bike Wheelie. Hold back while accerating. This might be harder to do with keyboard keys, you might have to tap it.

Bike Stoppie. While moving quite fast, press break, then release and lean forward to ride on the front wheel.

Ride on the train roof. Park a car on the platform and use it as a boost to climb up onto the train roof for a scenic ride and a nice drive-by platform :) Theres also a flatbed train thats easier to get onto.

SA is fun... but I managed to ween myself off of it. It's soooo addicting.  >_<

Ahh, I can't wait to get this. I've played the first two GTA3's to death.

On an interesting side note, Rockstar Games seems to be cracking down on the illegal copies out there. All legit torrents for it are being disabled, yet there are tons of working fake torrents floating around. Even searching for it on some sites returns something about copyrights. Kudos to them for actually making me impatient enough to go buy the thing.

the games are only fun when you can go on a rampage killing cops, people, army and swat teams, and military vehicles with the RHINO!

oh and i almost forgot about running people over with the combine harvester and flying those ww2 planes with the dual MGS and strafing the beaches then crashing

but  other than that... the game sucked.

I think the graphics engine is getting a little dated even with the new effects and better lighting.  Now if they made it for the PC to begin with it would probably be 10x better looking (the models look like crap, even on the PC)

I'm just having tons of fun taking over gang territory and getting more money from silently knifing drug dealers (they do give $2000).  Or buy drugs from them first then kill them  >:D  >:D  >:D

Pretty open ended game overall though

Personally I like getting a bike, parachute, and going hell for leather down Mt Chiliad. Such raw naked fun.

Failing that its beating up people with a giant dildo. Still makes me laugh.

Tell me about it! On the PS2 Ive stopped playing at that part which is a shame.

For ages couldn't get high enough to do the circle airstrip because I forgot to raise the wheels  . Now Im stuck on the killing the vehicles with the helicopter.
Never get them all on the first pass and then take too long to do it. Even if I manage it. GRRRR.

Yea i just bought the Zero's RC shop (david cross is funny :-P ) and i'm on the mission where you fly the little model red baron plane.  God why does GTA always have the most retarded and difficult flight model?  It's so freaking hard and cumbersome to fly planes in this game.  I think the old ones had this problem as well IIRC.

David Cross is great in Arrested Development. I also just ran into Zero in my game, aero.

Those hills/mountains and dirt roads were soooo fun.

I don't see the connection.  Yes the word bacon is used to describe my love of bacon.  I really can't help it if your offended by that, is it a taboo word?  What are bacon flaps anyways?  Is there some kind of hidden meaning i'm missing?

Everyone put down a handy tip you've learned (i.e. UKChaos' tips) for GTA:SA! I just started :)

I know you can make BANK by taking down the drug dealers, but where the HECK are they? And what do they look like?

ill euphamism you  ;)

and the drug dealers sometimes have a white hoody on.. or sometimes they have a black tank top.. and theyre holding their hands infront of them.. like uh.. really tough stance or something.. and sometimes the other ai talk to them to buy drugs... and if you walk up to them theyll offer you drugs.. and the y/n box pops up....

and if you fight them theyll pull a gun on you so its best to get a knife and creep up behind em.. take em out quick.... lets seeeeee.... thats all i have to say atm.. and i prolly said more than i had to.. but im kinda bored..

Bet on horses.
Title: San Andreas for PC
Post by: lolfighter on June 20, 2005, 11:43:46 PM
I tried betting on horses, what's the trick?

Flying is SO much easier in first-person mode. Also, don't fly with the mouse.

I love causing highway/freeway pileups. From there, blow up one of the cars (jump on it and stomp on the hood if you don't want police attention) for massive chain reaction boom fun.

Even the standard pea-shooter pistol becomes a decent weapon if you reach hitman level with it (full skill bar). Remember to try for headshots no matter what weapon you're using.

I love parachuting. I need to find some creative uses for it.

Choppers were easier to control in Vice City. Maybe analog sticks are more suitable than a keyboard.

I want a tank! Where are the tanks? There have to be tanks!

Flying is fun now that I got the hang of it. Especially the harrier.

Return to the house where you first met the government agent inbetween San Fierro and Las Venturas. Heavy weapons to be found. The thing that looks like a concrete tube is a guided missile launcher.

You save your game, go bet, and if you lose, you reload.

If you win, save, and then do it again.

In the first town find the Pimpmobile and do the missions for it.
Once you become a pimp, hookers pay you for sex :) Good way to get health and money.

I think its a white car (cant remember the type) parked behind a petrol station, near a car wash.

They stand still and wear hoodies. You will find them in the grove street area.

I recommend completing the 8-Track race in the stadium in first city. You unlock the monster truck which is my current favourite vehicle.

Its brilliant for smashing cars off the road, it can drive up very steel slops and over brick walls. Its the perfect off-road vehicle to roam the countryside. Also instead of a hand break, the back axels turns, so you can pull awesome donuts. The only downside is that not all garages can fit it. I ended up keeping one in my Mulholland garage as its suited to the hilly areas.

The 8-Track is hard, but its worth completing to get unlimited access to the Monster (its always parked outside stadium) . The only other way of getting it is by unlocking it from the San Fierro dock, then buying it on the right day.

Tips for completing the 8 track:

- Damage is your main enemy. I've never lost the race due to being slow, always by my car being destroyed.

- Let the A.I cars infront when the race starts, 100% of the time there will be a huge pile up at the first corner. Drive careful and avoid this to gain a hige advantage.

- Dont hit the side of the track, just drive careful and you will eventually overtake all the racers and win comfortably.

- Once your infront its easy to stay infront, as long as you dont crash.

drive up a bit ahead of them and let them walk toward your car. Theyll ask you for a screw and press Y to say yes. She'll get in the car and then you can drive to a secluded area and stop for about 20 seconds. The car shakes, you get health, and paydirt. Then kill the hooker because sometimes she has even more cash and a knife is a nice weapon.

I finished the pimping stuff too, but haven't since tried picking up any hookers... However, if they stay in the car after you get paid for doing the business, it would be a good idea to drive them off the pier. You don't get the bonus money, but then there's no body. I mean think about it, you have sex with someone then murder them? That's a sure way to get caught.

It's too bad you can't eat people, that's the best way to get rid of a body, especially one that has your own bodily fluids on it.  :(

its not real... no one cares about some body laying around... they just walk right through them... you dont even get a star for killing a hooker once youre done sitting in the car with her... unless theres a cop nearby

When I leave bodies around, people come by and leave sassy comments! Too bad I'm running this on my 700 mghz, on a GeForce 2. Still a great game. Just hit the second island.
