Off Topic / Total Annihilation

I have played TA, and though the gameplay is good, I don't really like how powerful things are, it's....overwhelming. But maybe that's because I learned and am used to things that are much closer, and far more chaotic.

However, I am STILL listening to the music, because it owns. Same with Starcraft. And Command and Conquer (in it's many forms).

General / Early fade counters?

The only good counter to ANY fade is a few marines with good aim and a bit of coordination and determination.

.....but that's just my opinion.

Never OC up a room and expect the structures to defend it. It's a waste of res because patient marines will just take it slow and one by one kill all the OCs and unpatient marines will ninja by them and PG on the other side. Except, when you're with your OCs, you're where you are no longer needed. You are in a place where you can do little to nothing for the team, and therefor are a waste of your res. When I gorge, if I'm not running somewhere, I know I'm missing something, or not doing something right. I'm no fan of standing still, and as a flimsy little fatty, I live by that.

P.S. It works well, too.

Yeah, when I stop checking the site for updates, it tends to become fairly obvious that they have lost a lot of enthusiastic followers. As a rule, I tend to be obsessive about things like that....

It should be noted that OCs should not be used very often....they are, at almost all tiems, a waste of res. Any marine with time can eliminate them without so much as being scratched.

However! They can be used effectively.

OCs are amazing sentry towers. Put them places you think ninjas will pass through, overlap firing zones. Make it so that the enemy must get meds, fight through, or die. That's the best way I've found for them to be used. Suffice to say, I build few.

Edit: It should be noted I consider myself a competent gorge, though I'm more or less useless at fade/lerk/onos/skulk. Suffice it to say, I get a lot of practice?

That's a point.

I would have a hard time posting this, because to do so would say that you actually looked into it, that you were bothered by it, and that you were at least interested in it. How many of you here are willing to say "I masturbate too much?"

Me, I used to masturbate. It was the easist thing to stop, and on of the hardest to actually manage it. And that's without anything else. Those of you with pr0n, go ahead. Me, I'll keep to my 'boring' life and keep out of it.

For some reason, it seems....wrong.

Edit: For the record, I'm agnostic. No church was involved with my decision, nobody else knew. So this isn't some fanatical religious crap for me.

Sidenote: I hope Kodiac doesn't read this, how embarassing would that be?

Silence screws my aim, I can't hit a silenced skulk for some deranged reason.
If I'm marine, I hate movement first.

If I'm alien (read, if I'm gorge) I love it, because as soon as the second hive drops, it's defended. I am always able to get out of a hot spot (I'm a celerity whore) and it is, overall, tactically a better choice. The aliens thrive on manueverability and speed. Nothing is faster than pressing 'use'.

And for those wondering, yes my influx of posts means I'm gonna be playing a bit more.

General / REQUIRED READING FOR PLAYERS

I don't know how long this has been here, and I don't know whether what I say matters at all or not anymore. But frankly, I'd like to put in my two cents.

When I joined this server, it had a reputation. It was a big server, heck, maybe even famous. But it was known for banning vets on small abuses, and for being fairly unlikely to allow new members to join the community.

Now, heck, I came to LM for a reason, and for the life of me I can't remember it now. But the reason I stayed was because I felt that no matter what reputation, and no matter what problems a server has, it's not about the server, or about the problems, or the admins, but the other people, the ones you play beside and meet, that make the server a COMMUNITY.

Maybe the admins are a little strict, I havent' been around too much. But I know I'd be strict, I know from forum modding in other places what my rules are. One warning, then action. Frankly, that seems best to me.

Maybe the people are leaving, maybe the game is getting worse. I dont' know, I don't play it to win all the time.

But I came to this place as a vet, and now I hold a res slot. Heck with what may or may not be happening, I'm here to stay, because this isn't just a server. LM is a community, and this community is what I have become part of, and here is where my friends are. That includes people on both sides of almost every arguement, from the lunacy of MrBill to the strict enforcements of Uranub.

This is LM, and nobody can really change where it's going. But you can definitely make a few friends as you ride the waves.

Edit: Feel free to argue, but games are for fun, and for friends. That's my view. But then, remember. I'm just a vet.
