Title: I Need Good Car Music
Post by: Uranium - 235 on January 15, 2004, 03:09:47 AM
Tell me good songs that have good beats that are great for listening to in a car :p

OUT:

 - Non-English lyrics
 - cRap music (The only ONE exception was 'Lose Yourself')

Just an example:

Ironman wins because it's got the nice poundy beat. Another good one is 'OK Go - Get Over It'. If you must have one more example, say, 7 Nation Army.

I like mainly older bands (Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin) but the problem is I don't have the time to find the good songs out of all 10 billion... sooo... give me a huge-ass list of songs like that ;)

Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back

Oasis - Wonderwall

Offspring - Dammit I Changed Again

Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls

And loads more that I can't think of right now!

Nearly any track from Static-X's most recent album, Shadow Zone, is great driving music.

Offspring - "The Meaning of Life" and "All I want" from their Ixnay On the Hombre Album, and "Staring At the Sun" from their Americana album.

Thats what I can think of off the top of my head without extensively going through my music collection. When I get back from school in a bit I'll go through and listen for some other possible good driving songs I have in my head.

For more recent music, I would recommend some sexcellent Rage Against the Machine.  If that's not your thing, get the Audioslave CD.  Seriously.

For a bit of older music....perhaps George Clinton and the P-Funk,  and Perhaps the Pixies.  Uhh..Blur is also cool.  These are the last two.  I promise:  The Darkness (crazy effing brits) and The Velvet Underground.

Well if we're talking the Offspring Grimm may I also add L.A.P.D, Black Magic and Session?

All from Ignition and they are all class tracks.

Unfortunately, I havn't heard all of Offspring's songs. Only albums I have at the moment are Ixnay On the Hombre, Americana, and Conspiracy of One. I'm still looking into getting the other ones, their older stuff is a bit harder to track down.

Trust me, I work at circuit city in the car audio dept.  Linkin Park meteora and Reanimation are some of the best car music cd's you can get.  (especially if you have a subwoofer or low end speaker)  Meteora is good to just chill too, and some songs are angrier than others, so it's not all just softer music.  Reanimation is a good mix between rap, rock, and techno.  It has a lot of awsome beats, and some good lyrics, and singing.

Actually I think Feel the Noize is one of the best of all of them... it's got a great beat, loud drums I can beat my steeringwheel to death with, and lyrics I can shout in the car :D

Yeah, the one I never knew the words to :( I always thought it started 'lights over water...' It's something completely different. I only figured it out after I remembered it mentioned something about dark side of the moon :p
Title: I Need Good Car Music
Post by: Geminosity on January 16, 2004, 04:03:39 AM
lol...

I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind,
I left my body lying somewhere in the sanctum.
I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon,
I feel there's nothing I can do... yeah.

I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon.
After all I knew it had to be something to do with you.
I really don't mind what happens now and then,
as long as you'll be my friend at the end!

If I go crazy then will you still call me superman?
If I'm alive and well will you be there holding my hand?
I'll keep you by my side with my super-human might!
Kryptonite!

You call me strong, you call me weak but still your secrets I will keep,
you took for granted all the times I never let you down.
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if not for me then you'd be dead.
I picked you up and put you back on solid ground!

If I go crazy then will you still call me superman?
If I'm alive and well will you be there holding my hand?
I'll keep you by my side with my super-human might!
Kryptonite!

If I go crazy then will you still call me superman?
If I'm alive and well will you be there holding my hand?
I'll keep you by my side with my super-human might!
Kryptonite... Yeaaaaahhhh!

If I go crazy then will you still call me superman?
If I'm alive and well will you be there holding my hand?
I'll keep you by my side with my super-human might!
Kryptonite!

oh-woahw-oh
oh-woahw-oh

That's what I hear anyways ^^

edit: eep! put back in 2 words I missed from the verse by accident ^^;

I highly suggest getting The Death Rock EP by Bella Morte. Just crank up the volume and blast down the road, its definitely one of my top favorites of any music. Although its unfortunate that its only about 15-20 minutes long, its just too cool to be so short.

Gah, here's another classic rock and roll you missed :)

You show us everything you've got
You keep on dancin' and the room gets hot
You drive us wild, we'll drive you crazy
You say you wanna go for a spin
The party's just begun, we'll  let you in
You drive us wild, we'll drive you crazy
You keep on shoutin', you keep on shoutin'

I... wanna rock and roll all night... and party every day!

Let's see, I also nabbed Billy Joel 'We didn't start the fire', Midnight Oil 'Beds are burning' (Hmmm fire motif here) and Petty 'Free Fallin' and 'Runnin down a dream' (The last two are songs I literally have memories of being stuck in my head... oh, about 11 years ago.)

Hey Esuna don't you have any David Bowie ones for me? :)

I know I'm kind of digging up an old thread, but I thought my comment goes very well in this one.

The new Offspring album Splinter is very very cool, fast and loud and a very solid album. My top favorites would be "The Noose", "Hit That", and "Lightning Rod", although overall I really like all the songs very much.

If you have a nice system and want to scare white people and make black people look at you funny then put on 36mafia. I peronally hate rap but there are some songs by them you blast and you just can't stop laughing cause most of there songs are about someone giving them (youknow). Works better with a group of friends in the car.

Tool is pretty good to listen in the car. Really though, any band I like I can listen to in the car because I like them.

Speaking of Tool, has anyone heard A Perfect Circle's new album? Any good?
