though movies like these (flash oens) seem to always die on their projects... I have hope in this one

Everything good about this:

1) Superb quality flash.

Everything that sucks:

1) CLICHE CLICHE CLICHE Holy ^^ there was nothing in this besides the quality of the flash that made me think this was anything other then crap. The name "Fallen Angel"? Was this made by an 8 year old who doesn't know what an original title is?

2) Okay this is the post-apocalyptic future. Not only was the intro 100% ripped off from Fallout, but the entire flash seems to be 'LOOK I MADE MAD MAXX INTO FLASH!!!'

Never mind the whole 'Solitary gas station in the wasteland' just before it, which was just before the sign in the Fallout Tactics intro too. The entire beginning was ripped.

3) How does this chick, in a world with no future or present, manage to find someone to give her a perfect haircut and a laundromat to keep her clothes nice and neat?

Conclusion - Quality of flash: 5/5. Quality of anything else: -10/5

Post by: Satiagraha on September 18, 2004, 09:02:11 PM: I agree, My comments were referring entirely to the graphics. I've come to really ignore plots of flash films. To make a film long enough to actually do anything with the plot, the file'd be humongous.

Post by: Diablus on September 19, 2004, 12:08:58 AM: It's just a trailer......nobody besides the author knows what the plot is, sure its post apocalyptic ww3 or some deal but the storyline and everything is completly hidden. And dont say "psh, i know whats going to happen, its so obvious" because you dont.

I always wondered why people (including myself) have a tendency to watch films and bring out all the extremly bad points up, but leave most of the very good and positive points of a movie in? :huh:

2) cliche, cliche, cliche, cliche, cliche, cliche... was there anything about this that WASN'T cliche?

That said - not bad. It was certainly a lot more polished than most generic flash movies. :p

Post by: Grimm on September 22, 2004, 11:02:17 PM: I'm disappointed in most of you for complaining about the cliches; everyone should know by now that anything remotely "post apocalyptic" is automatically one big cliche. And, something that may come as a shock to a lot of you: The Fallout series wasn't the first thing to bring in the idea of a post-apocalyptic world. ;)

I agree with Diablus on the point that everyone seems to be a pessimist about movies or animations. When I watch something like a movie or a flash animation like this, I watch it to be entertained, I watch it as a deviation from normal everyday life; I don't get nit-picky about why someone's clothes are spiffy-clean or where I've seen such-and-such scene before. I still know the difference between a good movie and a bad movie, but that doesn't mean a bad movie like Super Mario Brothers or Matrix: Revolutions can't be entertaining.

Most of all, I'm surprised at the general lack of respect for someone who's putting time and effort into a project they're working on, merely to have it sh*t on by a bunch of naysayers and pessimists. Something that looks as nice as this can't be easy to create, and it's discouraing to know how many people are out there to put someone down for their work.

As for the flash itself; Overall, I like it. The model of the female is a little too close to a character from Dragonball Z, whom I can't remember her name (one of the andriods), just seems out of place, and the "End of Teaser" is a little odd, but overall it's a very solid animation.

Not liking something is ok, lest we enter the slippery slope of "nobody can criticise anything, ever". To take a recent example: Movies like Super Mario Brothers and Matrix: Revolutions took a lot of time and effort, yet they were still crap. Putting time and effort into something isn't a guarantee for instant praise, you have be able to transform the invested time and effort into something worthwhile, too.
And different people look at different things in a movie. I, for example, dismissed it almost immediately after clicking the link. Others just didn't like what they saw. Others were jubilant. It's likely that the author (unless he's some Piro-esque "I'm worthless and can't do anything right" dude) is so happy about the praise he receives for this that a few naysayers won't deter him or dent his pride and sense of fulfillment.
