1) is it f-secure antivirus enteprise? link (http://www.f-secure.com/products/anti-virus/enterprisesuite/)
2) do you know of any other blocked ports? (ports to look at: 20, 21, 23, 25, 80, 110, 443, 666, 8080 and 31337)
3) does it block inbound only, outbound only or is it port specific?
4) is there a way to authenticate as an admin and disable the firewall?

Step 1: uninstall all anti-virus and ANYTHING McAfee.

Step 2: Download and update AVG Antivirus (http://free.grisoft.com).

Step 3: Download and install Sygat Personal Firewall (http://www.simtel.com/product.download.mirrors.php?id=53687).

Connect to IRC through an open port, if possible. I know that some networks have servers which allow you to connect through port 80, so you could try that.

Actually, no-ip.com allows you to create a forward directly to a port. You connect through port 80, but it redirects to the port you need.

Handy for mail servers your firewall doesn't want you to use.

Try it.

- no-ip port redirects work funnily, if your irc client can understand http redirects then it should work.

- open the battery door, look and see if some silly person wrote the password on a peice of paper and put it there (schools have dome stupider things)

- ask around for the admin password

- try random words out of the dictionary

- if all else fails, stop the program from loading via:
1) elevate user to "Administrator" usergroup or gain access to an Administrator or higher account
2) Safe Mode
3) start --> run msconfig
4) uncheck macafee and all children in the services tab
5) uncheck macafee and all children in the startup tab
6) reboot, win

if you need help with #1, call me or search for a certain "offline registry editor"

for the password, try brand names on the computers at school or something like that. Last year we needed it for something, and a friend of mine noticed the network admin always carried around a three ring binder with a "CORBEY" logo on it, and that was the password.

People need to learn a thing or two about password security. Sometimes I think that 'the hard way' is the best way.

you mean like how "passwords are only as strong as the people who keep them"

If it's gamesurge, check out the server list, there's a few listening on non-standard ports. http://gamesurge.net/servers/ (http://gamesurge.net/servers/)

There's also the option of getting the encrypted password list, and cracking it for the admin password...

Or booting say, knoppix, renaming files for the firewall, and watching it disappear..

Or SSH tunnel through another computer (what I do),

Also, if the school doesn't keep up on their patches, well, thats just asking for it.  There are a couple exploits that can get you admin level shell access.

Or boot off a knoppix disc, and IRC from that.

It all depends where the actual port filtering is being done.  If its computer-level, there's a bunch of ways around it.. If its at the actual connection, your only real options are non-standard ports, or some kind of encrypted tunnel.

On a side note, MAC address filtering is useless, as I proved to my school.
