Title: Oh, The Clarity
Post by: Satiagraha on October 11, 2004, 06:35:20 PM
Oh yeah. I just purchased an Alpine CDA-9830 Car Audio Head Unit.

It cost me a pretty penny, but it's an extremely nice unit. Plays MP3s, 50Wx4channel, has high-pass, low-pass and subwoofer crossovers, a multitude of digital equalizing and sound correction, as well as an auxilary input that is adaptable to many forms (which I plan on hooking my 3-year-old iPod into)
More details here (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=CDA-9830&p_category=10&p_subcategory=45&p_main=10).

I just bought me a new car stereo as well.  I know it's a Pioneer, but I have no idea what the model number is offhand.

I'm a stingy bastard so I went for a cheap rig - this one was around $150.  So far it's been completely excellent in every way :D

Looks very nice, Satiagraha. When I get mobile, I'm definitely going for a soldid sound system; Music is too much of an obsession for me to want to skimp on anything.

It does look beautiful and expensive. Do you use XM Satellite radio then?

I choose not to pay for XM Sat radio service, but the Head Unit is "XM Ready".

Dubb: Pioneers are good too. But I tend to be a fan of Alpine as far as control units go.

U235: LCD screens jack the price waaaaaay up. Besides, why do I need LCD? Yes, they're pretty, but what else is better about the,? (not to mention that they drain power much faster)

I'm actually considering getting XM Radio with whatever setup I get; Normal radio stations play too many commercails and talk too much for me to want to listen to them. All I want is music, music, music.

Yes, normal radio has an insane amount of commercials. Which is why I'm going to hook my iPod up to the system. In the morning when there's nothing but morning shows on, I listen to 89.7MHz which is a local classical station. It's listener funded and does not air commercials.
