I've been on the server every now and then, it's not dead.  Just when you play, maybe.

Well NS is becoming boring. The Devs don't update the community anymore, they go off "beta testing" builds and I bet the PT's dont even bother to play anymore after a build has been in testing for awhile so im sure the testing server is constantly empty too. Sometimes I just wonder if the NS devs are idle, unless there working on NS:Source or another game for unknownworlds which in that case should let the community know so people dont disembark the community because they feel the devs are dead.

Besides im sure half the regs in the community play guild wars and the BF2 Demo now. I've come to the point of boredom with NS that I even play CS:S regularly now and even reinstalled C&C Generals.

i do think that the whole ns balance issue has alot to do with it
who really wants to play marines if aliens win all the time
usually theres some good scrappin till aliens get the 2nd hive up then the rines just have to wait till the aliens get around to killing thier base

well, its also the fact that NS revolves around overpowered shotguns and overpowered fades. Add someone with decent to amazing skill and they could potentially take on a whole team. I am kindve sick of Games being just revolved around shotguns and fades.

I also noticed alot of the non-regs in there lately have been nothing but smacktards who enjoy breaking MANY rules. Just came back from a game in LM with a 2v1 and both marines were talking alot of trash, avoiding the swear filter, being llamas and structure blocking. v_v

The playtesters play in scheduled playtest sessions, and the developers release a new playtest build every week.

Eh, I don't think so.  With Half-Life 2 and now Battlefield 2, alot of people are migrating.

I think a large part of the problem is the fact that it is summer time and many people have other stuff to do.

Counter-Strike 102,879 47,564 3.986 billion

It seems that there is an excess of servers for the number of NS players too.

World Of Warcraft, now combined with Battlefield 2 have destroyed the NS community.

Half-life 2 not so much so, I think HL2 generated more interested because of the start of NS:S....

But still I would like to see more people on the server.  v_v

More and more mods are going to be released soon for HL2, and with BF2 out there now, with WoW and GW, Steam has alot of enemies out there.

Summer is ending soon, if there is talk about turning to a new game, i dont think its a good idea, but if it be, then at least wait till the end of September to see, by then everyone who has been on vacation and out for the holiday's will be back, if not, then i'd agree HL and NS are dying. If being the case, what are the possibilities afterwards for a different online game?

Guspaz: Nothing like good hard stats to prove a point.

I rest my case, remember when NS beat everything except CS for a while? Those days seem over.
